BOSTON, (81-35).........................................................................BALTIMORE, (35-80)
BOSTON:
NATHAN EOVALDI, RHP, 5-4, 3.38 ERA, 62K
The righty was dominant in his first two starts, throwing 15 shutout innings
while walking one and fanning nine. He's the first Boston starter since the late
Vaughn Eshelman in '95 to have turned consecutive scoreless starts to begin his
Sox career.
BALTIMORE:
DYLAN BUNDY, RHP, 7-10, 4.38 ERA, 129K
Bundy held the Rangers to two runs (one earned) over six innings Saturday
in Texas but took the loss. He's posted a 2.29 ERA in three starts against Boston
this season.

Devers back in, Leon getting a day off and Holt at 2nd tonight.
Forgot that Bundy pitches well against the Sox :-X
Xander with a 3 run blast. Starting out right tonight.
Nice DP to clear the bags.
Eovaldi gets out of the inning unscathed, but a lot of pitches.
Eovaldi gets burned for a solo homer. Sox up 3-1.
Oof. Eovaldi is having a rough night. Porcello last night and Eovaldi tonight. Did they all forget how to pitch?
Ugh. I thought this Eovaldi guy was going to be dependable. I guess not. Sox down 4-3. Workman up in the pen already. This is inexcusable against this crappy team.
Wild one already. Eovaldi had been pretty good so let’s hope he can regroup.
Finally out of the inning. 50 pitches over two innings. Nice.
SOX look FLAT, like "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM FLAT" !!! Seen enough...… !! thumb_d iono iono iono
Now Bundy will turn into Cy Young and start mowing down the Sox in order every inning.
The infield seems to be out of place on every play tonight. Lots of seeing eye dog hits.
Wow falling apart.
Fred was right, the Sox weren't about to take this game seriously and it's showing. JBJ blows an easy one and costs the Sox another run. This is ridiculous.

They look like a team that swept the Yankees and thought they could beat anyone without trying.
Now Holt joins the antics. Sox down 6-3. They haven't lost two consecutive games since June 19-20, but it looks like they're heading that way tonight. Eovaldi isn't fooling anyone.
Now down 7-3. Well Wifey wants to watch a movie, so I'm done with this farce. Time to go for a ride.
About freakin' time Cora woke up and yanked Mister Useless.
A couple 2 out chances with runners on 2nd & 3rd tonight and all we got were a couple weak pop up outs. Having chances but not connecting.
Looking better now. Bases loaded, no outs. Must score here.
Now one out and no score. Watch a GIDP ruin this.
There's one run in at least.
We'll take that. Tie game.
We'll take it again. Sox lead 9-8.
Two more runs in. Wow. This is more like it.
Are Sox pitchers hitting the sauce lately? WTF is wrong with them?
And we still can’t get these guys out. I hope someone is up.

I wonder if Butler catching throws them off a bit.
Marvin Hudson the hp.umpire is known as a hitter's umpire. His strike zone is very tight. Nevertheless this game has all the hallmarks of game played.in the lower minors.
Hembree just couldn't get that 3rd strike. One run game again.
Butler is a bit of a sieve.
Hembree and Butler aren't in synch. Hembree looks like crap.
I think Cora stumbled into a rookie manager mistake by not sorting out who would start the second game tomorrow. He put four games in play instead of one. In essence he told everyone they had to be perfect or save the pen instead of just throwing their game. Relievers on pins and needles too as a result. I think he’ll recognize this and correct for the future.

They just haven’t worked with the guy and he’s a 10 year minor leaguer for a reason. Sort of like a Bull Durham.
Speaking of which going to see the Bulls with my son tomorrow.
At least Texas is doing it's part.

Should of let Pomerantz go a 2nd inning with the 3 run lead. Needed to try to win the game at hand and worry about tomorrow when it got here. Sometimes you out think yourself.
Hopefully the Sox aren't done scoring yet.
Attaboy, Beni!!! Sox up 14-10.
Both teams seem to have trouble catching the ball. 14 to 10 Patriots beating the Ravens.
Here's food for thought. Instead of worrying about tomorrow nights game just make it easy and activate Sale & let him pitch tomorrow and give the pen time to rest for a Sunday relievers game.

And if he decided that two days ago they’d all be in better shape. My guess though is that they don’t want to change the normal routine based on his bullpen.

Be a good way to do it since they have Monday off. Have Thursday off too.
The Orioles are the worst fielding team.
This is unreal.
Mookie just keeps hitting. 17-10.
Betts with a field goal! Pats now lead 17 to 10.
I have seen better fielding at my grandson t ball game.
This looked bad early on, but this is not last year's Sox team. And the Orioles flat out stink, so it shouldn't be a surprise the Sox came back. I should have known better, but I hate seeing a team as good as the Sox getting their butts kicked like they were earlier.
JD with 101 RBI and still 45 games to play. Wow.
Texas won
If this score holds Pomerantz is the winning pitcher.
Wow, 30 runs in one game. Little League stuff.
Hopefully Barnes can keep it down to 3 or 4 runs.

LOL. Barnes had a decent inning considering just trying to throw strikes. Gave up a solo hr with a 9 run lead. I can live with that.
Kelly coming in. I suspect he will hit at least one batter
19-12. Wow. That's a lot of runs.
Pomerantz with the win. Brasier pitched well. Lot of guys had hits for both teams. Not much to learn from this game. On to Saturday and a day-night double header. Yanks lost 12-7 so a 9 game lead again.

Pomerantz with the win.
LOL. Easiest win of his career.
Brasier should be ashamed of himself. He was the only Sox pitcher not to let anyone on base.
Eovaldi is what we know he is: a career 4.15 pitcher with a 1.34 WHIP and .266 BAA.
E-Rod and Wright can't get back into this rotation fast enough.
I like how the lousy pitching for 2 days and getting the bats to go nuts. (oh wait, it was the O's...)
Sox playing .701 ball nearing mid-August. Just to keep thing in perspective. If they sweep the O's, they'll be fifty games over .500.

You sometimes can feel when your team is off kilter but I'd rather be told I'm full of crap and proven wrong then to see what went down early in the game mark. Fortunately, our hitters got going and we put a lot of tallies on that board. I just hope the team realized that this team we're playing have given the Yankees fits this season. We'll see if the Red Sox learned their lesson tomorrow. I sure hope so. At least we got back the game we let get away yesterday and are back up by nine games.

You've made some very good points your last two missives George and it would do Cora a lot of good to do exactly what you suggest and would give us a better chance of hopefully winning two games tomorrow. Every win is important and every little bit helps.

Ugly!!! That was the worst played game I have seen in years. Gratefully the Sox won.
