Getting really ticked at MLB.  I've got audio but since I pay for the MLB package on DirectTV I should be getting video on my phone and computer - which I always have had.  Now I'm getting a message saying I'm not subscribed.  Plus, I had it working on my phone for a few moments and then shut it off figuring it would work on the PC, and now it works on neither.   thumb_d

Bogie looks like a total hitter this season.I know he had the bad wrist which was part of his troubles in 2017 but not all.  Now he is driving the ball instead of slapping at it just to put it in play.

Erod`s 1st start on a very cold day and 70 pitches in 3 innings and Cora has no warming in the pen. This guy is starting to worry me with some of his decisions.

Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats

Rays have fouled 13 2-strike pitches, which is crazy. Rodriguez has been all over the plate today which is a good sign.

E-Rod is scuffling with a pitch count of over 70 and a lot of men on base, but in some cases looks great on some of those K's. Interesting to look both good and bad in the same outing ...

Good day to bring in the long relief early.

1st and 2nd with no outs, pitch count 81. Time to get some long relief warming up. It's cold, and E-Rod is coming back from injury, time to wrap it up.

Cora must have been dreaming about Farrell last night. There's a day off tomorrow so using the pen is not an issue. What the hell he is waiting for is beyond me.He pulled Sale with 9 pitches and a 4-0 lead but he leaves a guy with no spring training and coming back from an injury.Going forward Cora IMHO will be a problem.

There is no defense for having someone in for his 1st start on a cold day stay out that long with a day off tomorrow for the pen. Imagine if Farrell did that.

E-Rod's final line:

IP   H   R   ER   BB   K   HR   WHIP   ERA
   3.2   5   3   3   2   7   1   1.91           7.36

It's 38 degrees with 15 mph winds, E-Rod coming back from injury. No way he should have gone out past 3 innings.

The biggest knock on JD Martinez's defense is his arm.  We saw two examples of where his poor throwing from the field had negative consequences.

Part of that goes to the FO since they sort of cleaned house letting their best players leave by FA.

That's why I wonder if it's all part of the plan. Like the movie Major League. Play poorly enough and maybe you can move the team elsewhere. They certainly have no huge fan base in Tampa.

Oh sh@t!!!!!!!  And with the Yankees coming to town.  Hope he can play against them.  But, hey, we're 8-1, three up on the Yankees in the all important loss column and who knows, maybe Baltimore can pull that extra inning game out.  Look, that screw up that first day left us all in lather but we came back and won the next eight so who can complain right now?  Man, we got, what six straight hits with two outs?  That's what I counted.....if I counted right.  One minute it was seven to two. I go to the refrig for a drink and come back and we're running the bases and it's 7-5 and a few hits later we're ahead 8-7.  I mean, that's the way to come back.  I just hope this is the start of something really good the next few months.

A win is a win, but as DAD would say.... "SON, we had no business winning that game, after the 1st inning and his 3 strike outs, E-ROD reverted to his off the mark potential.".... Defense was terrible, Bogey, who was he shoveling the ball to ?? Not to mention the dumb slide into the dugout..... I couldn't watch anymore, but I certainly hope that after they won, they just went to the locker room and didn't jump around like a bunch of 13 year olds !!! Discipline is part of the game, all that FUN stuff goes with the "EVERYONE GETS A TROPHY CRAP" AND IN THE END GOES HOME !!  Alex, you are 8 & 1, it is my hope that you have learned a "bunch" about your roster in the first 9 games that will help you out starting TUESDAY against the YANK$ !!!   BTW,  J B J is still the best centerfielder on that TEAM !!  J D, obviously, like a first date is having a difficult time with the WALL DANCE !!! thumb_d thumb_d thumb_d thumb_d iono iono iono iono iono iono

Don`t worry Fred I would have said enough for the both of us. Absolutely no reason what so ever to leave him once he got to 70 -75 pitches. My peeve is that with no game on Monday he could have used the entire pen.Hopefully, he learns from his shortcomings.

Maybe Dana will help Cora out with his decisions going forward.Considering it was Erods first start on a terribly cold day IMO he did pretty damn good and should not have been subjected to throwing 92 pitches.  It was a Farrell like moment in his head for sure. Nothing yet on Bogeys injury after a helluva great hustle play.Great to see a guy play all out like that. JD should take notice and give more on D.Then again he should not be in the field. His arm showed a lot to be desired also today.

Yeah, the E-Rod thing was a bit of a head scratcher.  You got to think Cora will only make the mistakes once.  He can only get wiser as the season moves on.

I dont see all the consternation with E-Rod.  He pitched and now with the schedule has a nice long stretch before he has to pitch again.  It's probably going to be cold on Tuesday too.  He's a grown man and a pro athlete but he can't pitch because it's too cold?  Come on guys, you're just looking for things to complain about.

I missed JDM botching that play.  Must have been when I ran to the supermarket.  All I know is after I got back, when it was 7-2 in the 7th I turned to golf.  Checked back 20 minutes later and it was 7-4 I think so I stayed and watched them come back for the win.

Carson Smith sucks and needs to be sent down.  The guy may be toast.

The point I was making was between coming back from injury with very little ST  Cora was totally not thinking by letting go to 92 pitches in his 1st start. He preaches keeping SP fresh and letting Erod go that far with a day off  Monday the pen should have been used when he was struggling at the 70-75 pitch mark. If another pitcher that was healthy and already seen action the cold would not be an issue. IMO it was Cora not being smart 80% and the cold 20%. Think of the conversation today if Farrell did that .

I guess but it's not like he didn't pitch the last few weeks, he's been working out and pitching regularly.  It's not like 92 is a big deal.

Cora admits in-game blunder: Sox' rally for 6 runs in 8th Sun. got him so excited, he forgot to sub for Martinez in LF w/ 1-run lead in 9th

He made a few in that game.

That means his bench coach screwed up too. They need to stay on top of things.
