Part of that was Sucre with his hands up calling for the ball, but it was very strange, in fact Nunez even seemed to let up a little thinking there was no throw coming. And a catcher would know this better than anyone.
In the meantime, the bats are dead.
Odd game so far. Sox have 4 hits. All by the 7-9 hitters & 5 walks all by Betts and Benni. No hits batters 1-6 so far. Hopefully a better 9th.
Kimbrel is back on track. Very quick and drama-less inning.
Sox score 3 in the top of the 9th inning.
Sox 4 - Rays 1.
Kimbrel comes in to close - NO drama tonight.

He's been hitting a lot of ground balls lately and rolling over his hands that encourages this. He also looks very slow at the bat and made reference to that earlier in another post. Hopefully it is just a slump but I'm seeing some decay in his batting that augers problems down the road. He needs a three or four game rest and an opportunity to give Moreland a chance to get some at-bats. Hey, we won tonight with a big three in the ninth inning so all is good, but notice when our big hitters don't hit---CHAOS!!!!!!! Cora? Please get your stuff together now that we seem to be making some positive strides (oh hell, I hope I didn't jinx the team). We need to get as many of hot bats in the lineup as we can.

This may sound nasty and cruel but I sometimes get the impression that Vazquez is dumb because he makes a lot of mistakes on both the physical and mental fronts.
The Yankees were leading 10 - 5
in the 5th inning AND lost the game

Great pitching tonight both for the stsarter Price and the relievers Kelly and Kimbrel. Can't complain about that----and the Yankees lost and that makes it a nice two day stretch. We have to start hitting again and maybe a change or two in the lineup might aid that.

Bradley's double was on the best swing he has had in two weeks. From what I've noticed JBJ shortened his swing to get to that ball. I hope he continues to both shorten his swing and go the other way the way he did last night.
