BOSTON, (85-35)...........................................................................PHILADELLPHIA, (65-52)
BOSTON:
RICK PORCELLO, RHP, 14-5, 4.17 ERA, 140K
After a lights-out start against the Yankees, Porcello was roughed up last
time out, getting tagged for seven runs in four-plus innings in Toronto. It was
the third time in his past five starts that Porcello gave up at least four runs.
PHILADELPHIA:
NICK PIVETTA, RHP, 7-9, 4.51 ERA, 147K
Pivetta pitched well in April and May but struggled in June and July. The
first two starts of August, however, have looked like his first two months, which
is encouraging. He has allowed two runs in 12 innings, striking out 13 and
walking one.

WE SURE BETTER HOPE THE GOOD ONE, and make sure the hitters bring along their hitting shoes as well. Let's keep he line moving and that means no turning back.
HR. 1-1 in the 5th.
1-1 going to the 8th. Porcello has pitched a very good game. Need some runs to give him a chance for the win.
Holt crushes one, 2 - 1!
Brilliant PH move by Cora. He knew it all along. Need to get Mookie home.
Wonder why Hembree and not Brasier but we'll see.
Hembree done good. So if the score holds, who gets the win?

I think Porcello but he was out of the lineup before we scored but was last pitcher of record before we scored. Might be up to the official scorer?
OB just said he was in line for the win, so we'll see.

Let's hope he gets it. Kimbrel scares me big time. Was looking at Kimbrels & Barnes stats today. Almost identical era, walks to k's (about 3/1 ratio). Was surprised.
Argh. When was the last time he threw a clean inning? Seems likes ages ago.
Whew. Lots of drama, but it's over.
Porcello with the win (15-5) in a very well pitched game. Kimbrel managed another save. Holt & Leon supplied what was needed tonight. Phils play the Sox tough. Team did just enough to get another win. On to Wednesday.
Against a tough contending team that is slowly coming to the team they were a decade or so ago, and one with very solid pitching, we prevailed tonight in a tough 2-1 game, the same score we bested the Phillies a few weeks back in Boston in the first game of that series. Of course, we are hoping not to turn in the type of game we did in that second contest at Fenway tomorrow and win instead. Cora was on his game tonight.......he gave Hembree a shot after how badly he had been pitching lately and he turned in a solid inning while Kimbrel closed it out in the ninth. But I could have done without the opening walk in the ninth. What ought to be said is that while so many teams, the Dodgers, Nationals, Astros and Rockies come to mind among others, we seem to be holding our own for the most part. We keep winning and it makes no difference how the Yankees do so we need to keep moving that line along. Perhaps a little better hitting tomorrow and Eovaldi comes back from his last poor outing as Porcello did tonight. A good win.
The right Porcello showed up. And game changing contributions from the "unheralded" guys in Leon and Holt.
Another good win...…. Cora knows his STUFF !! thumb_u thumb_u rofl rofl rofl
Interesting that Porcello had that stinker in between. Hard to lay it all on the catcher, but he had high praise for Leon after the game.
I could have done without Porcello's headfirst slide into second with his right hand out there to get smashed up. Other than that, 7-1 so far on this road trip!
