BALTIMORE, (63-65)..........................................................................................BOSTON, (73-55)

six hits, including four homers through four innings against the Angels.

BOSTON:

with a 4.78 ERA in seven starts.  He is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in two starts vs the
O's this year.  He has just one decision in seven Fenway starts in '17 going 1-1

The fun and excitement of Players Weekend rolls on from Fenway Park on Saturday as the Orioles and the Sox continue to add their personal brand of style to the final weekend of baseball in August.

"We've been looking forward to this," O's All-Star Manny Machado (aka "Mr. Miami") said. "This is us. We go out there every day, we grind stuff out. Everyone comes out here and they're excited to see what we're wearing on the field. You go out there and try to bring the same thing. I see a lot of kids on YouTube pimp home runs and striking out people and pimping them … they're watching everything we're doing up there. We just go out there and put a little style on our game play; it's always a good thing."

The Red Sox will have Eduardo Rodriguez (aka "El Gualo") toeing the rubber to start the day's activities. The southpaw (4-3, 4.01 ERA) is without a decision in his past five starts and without a win since May 26.

Kevin Gausman (aka "Gausy") gets the start for Baltimore, coming off a four-inning loss against the Angels in his last appearance. In his previous start at Fenway, on May 3, the right-hander (9-9, 5.25 ERA) was thrown out after hitting Xander Bogaerts (aka "X") in the second inning during a heated series.

The tension of that early May series has since dissipated, giving way for Players Weekend to be the talk around the ballpark.

"It's going to be a fun weekend, be on the lookout," Mr. Miami added.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GAME

• This will be Rodriguez's 10th start against his former organization, the most against one team for the 24-year-old. He is 3-4 with a 4.37 ERA versus the Orioles.

• Mark Trumbo's second-inning home run Friday night was his 20th of the season, giving him six seasons with 20 or more homers. It was also the 10th long ball Trumbo has hit off Boston in his career.

• Orioles second baseman Tim Beckham (aka "Swaggy T"), acquired from Tampa Bay at the end of July, has reached base in 21 of 23 games since he joined the club.

And Hanley has to hit.....hit big time, hit with runners on base, hit and drive in some runs, and perhaps hit a big three run dong.  He has been totally deficient in the run producing department and we need him badly to shake his problems.

Starting pitching is on a real bad streak right now. Don't win many giving up 5-6 runs or more in the first 2 innings. Only good thing is it's early if you can stop the other team from scoring.

Heading for a third consecutive butt whuppin'.

Sea Dog 23

Sox pitching has been what they call in the restaurant business, "pot luck."   iono  It is the dog days of August, but it looks like tired arms just about every series.

longgame

This is brutal.  Again sloppy with the ball, again can't hit, again cough up a big lead.

Of course the brain trust didn't bother to bring up anyone from Pawtucket, I guess they figure they can get a few innings out of Moreland tonight.

markj

Two walks in the inning and they do nothing with them.

longgame

And a leadoff hit to start the next inning.  The real shame is you know that E-Rod won't last long on a good day and they're going to be deep in to the pen again.

Three straight games that are a pitching disaster.  Can you say "Ace" when talking Fister?

As I mentioned on the other thread titled Orioles 16 Red Sox 3, that today E-Rod is pitching and beware of the second inning.  T his is the third or fourth time in succession that he has struggled miserably in the second frame.  God Damn i t, this is a mental block and Farrell should have been aware of it and had his pitching coach's ass our there to try and calm the storm.  As it was nothing was done and now we will lose another game of our lead and, what's more, from the look of things we may be headed into another one our patented hitting droughts.  And please, get Ramirez out of that lineup.  I don't know what his problem is; it could be he is still hurt or it could be he is falling apart and his injuries have taken a toll but the front office had better wake the hell up or by the time we play the Yankees in that four game series our lead may have vanished.  Is this team heading into the tank?

E-Tod should have his nickname on his back read: "One Bad Inning." Seems that is what he does.  Pitches great except for one inning.
