Just wondering Ted if Porcello can go out there and not give up a dozen hits and become a human pinata again. He needs to finally nail it down and give us some solid starting pitching-----like how about a seven inning stalwart performance that leads to a win for us. He hasn't pitched worth a damn most of the year and we can sure use a few good games from him. I think that would be swell.
RAFFY DEVERS is making MOOKIE look good, AGAIN !!! Also, with his #11, looking more like FRANK MALZONE at 3rd base ????? Go get them BOYS !!!! rofl rofl rofl rofl
Porcello is in a lose-lose situation. He's in a contract year. Mgt. I understand has dismissed his attempts to get an offer. If he doesnt get his game back on track, he'd be lucky to get half his current salary elsewhere.
And the game is finally under way. 4 hours late. Sox up 2-0 after 1/2 an inning.
Noisy bats by the Sox. Mookie and Chavis doing work with Devers bringing Mookie home,
Even a 7-0 lead isn't safe.
Sox are going to blow this. BP time and 2 runs is not enough.
One could see that Porcello was losing it in the sixth. His breaking balls weren't as sharp as earlier. I have my own theories as to why he isn't as effective as last year and before but that's for another time. Once again the manager waited too long to pull him. In one sense it is understandable given how poorly the pen has been.
Manager Neuman decides to pinch hit Nunez for Holt who had 2 hits, Replacing Holt's defense for Nunez's to me is a risky move. Let's see if it backfires.
Betts with a long at bat. Can't hit anything into fair territory, though.
Porcello with each outing making the FO already made decision to say goodbye a very easy one.
Finally walks. Bases loaded, one out. Need more runs here. At least Raffy's up. Maybe he can handle this.
Wow, Farmer blew that one big time. Sox get a gift run.
Argh, classic Red Sox GIDP with bases loaded ends the scoring chance.
Think a 4-run lead is enough?
Apparently so. Sox win 10-6.
Yanks lost, so Sox gain a game.
Good win. On to Sunday at 1pm.
Sox won against the hapless Tigers who have one more win than the more hapless Orioles. If only they can only play the Os, Royals and Tigers then they may actually win a wildcard spot.

Yeah, but it won`t be easy.
In a perfect world DD would strike a deal for Tigers' Shane Greene while he's in town. However we can't finance it right now, let alone have the key prospects to start dealing. Or will he?
WOW, what a RAIN DELAY ……. Woke up in the 7th inning …….. Must keep winning, one at a time !!!

Well he didn't and so we still have the same plethora of boobs, none of whom you can trust for near certain to go in there and not get their tits lit. Shane Greene would have been a real improvement over thel ikes of the crew we have but for whatever reason DD held on to his cards----in this case a bunch of sick jokers.
I think a pen that consists of Wright, Hembree, Barnes, Eavoldi and Brazier has the potential to be top 5 in baseball
it is up to Cora and the starting P's to keep them fresh/effective
it will be challenging, as DD did not get them a true closer
simply put, if Sale and Porcello can find there "normal", and Johnson is healthy enough to take the ball every 5th day, this team will be in the wild card, and once in, anything can happen

Workman has been the Sox's most consistent reliever with a WHIP of 1.041 and the best ERA on the club at 1.79
yes, you are 100% correct. I typed him in but misspelled his name. I then deleted and did not put him back
good catch

Workmans Achilles heel is to many BB.
Who are we kidding here guys???? Karp says we don't have a closer---and when you don't have a real closer you have a gigantic bullpen problem. Closer by Committee is an abject failure wherever it has been attempted and always will . We tried it back in 2003 and it failed miserably and it isn't working now. Perhaps when Nathan comes back, and Wright regains his form, and Workman learns his control, and Brasier stops giving up homers, and Barnes doesn't meatball away any more games, and maybe when pigs fly, we'll have a cracker jack bullpen. But we don't have one now and it will net us nothing if we get a Wild Card berth this Fall and have to protect a one or two run lead late in the game this October. WE NEED A @#$%&?+ CLOSER PERIOD and at least two other relievers who we can trust late in the game.

I think the return of Hembree and Wright could be positives, but they can't wait forever for Eovaldi to return. They've got that two weeks I've been talking about coming up. We need someone on Thursday, not some point later in the season.

You think right Ted. IF Wright regains his control and form he could be a big asset and I think Hembree has the stuff; it just amazes me that he still hasn't fully pieced together his total game with the stuff he has. Something is still holding him back and I hope he finds it because we could use a good Hembree going out there and holding serve while we win some close games.
Watch Hembree pitch. He borders on indecision and a lack of confidence in his stuff. He never looks like he is in command on the mound.

Could be Elk. Something is holding him back and that could be as good a reach as anything. It might help with some tough love or TLC from his ghost of a pitching coach. I wonder what he sees.

Hembree has no secondary pitches. never has. he is a fastball only pitcher. he tops out at 94/95. unless he is locating his fastball with precision, he is hit-able. that has been his mo... always
