Nice 2 out hit by Devers drives in 2 runs. 2-0 Sox after 1/2 inning.
Porcello better settle into a better rhythm.
Xman gets the run back.
Porcello not too sharp.
Why is Cora not making the move to pull Porcello. He clearly isn't very sharp.
I think JD will be called out here.
Yep. Not much question there.
Xman again. And good hustle by Beni. Tied up.

If I had to guess he's worried that tomorrow he doesn't have a starter and doesn't want the bullpen worn out. It may depend on the outcome of this game, but I wouldn't be surprised if E-Rod started tomorrow but on a very short hook.
Close game.
Argh. Needed to shut them down there, Joe.
JBJ with another clutch home run!!!
Amazing game! JBJ is the Sox MVP of this series so far.
I guess I was wrong about E-Rod starting tomorrow
E-Rod didn't last long.
What was E-Rod thinking walking the leadoff batter. He was brought in to face one.
Well done, Brasier.
Bases juiced. A run here would be helpful.
E-Rod has been pretty worthless.
Time for Holt to come up with the big hit here.
Wow, first free run this game. Up until now it was a well played game by both teams. But giving away runs in this situation is inexcusable.
Moreland does nothing. Good thing Houston gave us a free run.
C'mon, Brasier. Close this out.
Or not. Brasier is done.
End this, Barnes.
Attaboy, Barnes. Nicely done.
Way to go, Barnes. Nice K.
Good morning. Another good game?

Good morning. Another good game?
So far. A see saw affair
JD needs to earn his salary here.
JD comes through. 8-5
Yep, just like that. Attaboy, JD.
I've watched most of these games with the mute on, but tonight I've been listening to the game more and I agree with earlier comments. These announcers are definitely pro-Astros. They're acting like the Astros were destined to win this.
No not Kimbrel now!
Kimbrel in to start the 8th? Really?

It's been so obvious. I've done the same with the mute button.
Mookie guns down the runner!!!
Why is Kimbrel out there? !
Mookie with great throw to get the out...
Dammit, Kimbrel. Get your shit together.
Kimbrel hits Bregman now. This is gonna go south real fast. No one else warming up in the pen.
Is Hembree hurt or something?
I muted AFTER the HR.
And now I'm not watching
This a bad move by Cora. Kimbrel has never had a six out save this year.
Stupid Stupid Stupid Cora
Here's the dumbest managerial move of the offseason.
Cora can't see what everyone else knows - that Kimbrel can't pitch in high pressure situations.
Sometimes I wonder if Cora isn't a genius that we just can't understand. We'll see how this game ends up. But he's made unexpected moves before that have worked out, so who knows.
Kimbrel got out of it. If he brings Price in for the 9th who has he got for tomorrow?
Raffy with one decent AB tonight. But otherwise useless.
Okay, Leon gets a sac fly to move a runner to 3B. Bring him home, JBJ.
Wow, incredible catch by Reddick keeps this game close.
Kimbrel back out there.....surreal.
..and he walks Reddick.
Argh. What's with the walk, Kimbrel?
Dammit. Dammit.
He walks another guy. What a choke on Cora.
This is just bizarre.
Kimbrel has lost it completely
Damn you, Kimbrel.
Beyond me....this team deserves better than this tonight.
Oh my god! Beni!
Thank you, Beni!!!!! Just saved Kimbrel's ass.
OMG...Beni just saved the game!
I seriously hope we have another closer next year.
Benitendi saved Cora's ass
Kimbrel makes the 9th inning SO TENSE.
He makes me SO NERVOUS - don't like this feeling at all.
WHAT is going on with him?
I miss KOJI!
OMG!
SOX BEAT the ASTROS!
8 - 6
THANK YOU Benni!
The SOX are up 3 - 1.
AMAZING.
BEFORE they went to Houston -
I was hoping the Sox would win ONEgame in Houston -
they have WON 3 in a row!
Kimbrel - 4 appearances, 4 saves. No problem, right? rofl
I won't be able to sleep!
Kelly with the win. Kimbrel with the 6 out hold your breath save. Beni & Mookie with great outfield plays. The Sox take a 3-1 series lead. Credit to Reddick on his catch in the top of the 9th. Was a very interesting game to watch though nerve wreaking.

Ain't baseball great !!!
WOW - JBJ has been on fire!
Is everyone up yet? ;D ;D
Watch for Mookie and JDM break out tonight to wrap this thing up.
I did not get to bed until 2am and get up until 9 am. I haven't done that in over 20 years. And it looks to be another late night.
Been watching and reading some on the Betts play on the Altuve hit. Clearly he would have caught the ball had the fan not interfered. What's less definitive is whether Betts was over the imaginary line. I'm not convinced he wasn't. There are two things to look at. First, Mookie is leaping and yes his arm would be back some, but after the ball hit his glove, he kept going into the wall. He had not hit the wall yet. The more telling thing is there are three guys involved. The guy furthest to the right is wearing a white shirt. He is clearly leaning over the railing and reaching out to where Mookie's glove is.
There will be a lot of crying about this one but West was right there. They don't have RF umpires in regular season games. This was the right call. I'm surprised they let those guys stay, if nothing else for their own safety.
I slept in an extra half hour this morning. Wasn't enough. At least the game tonight starts 30 minutes earlier.

There shouldn't ever be a situation where fans can interfere with a play while still in their seats. We have these issues because of poorly designed stadiums. How tough would it have been to build in some space between the fence and the first row of seats? And I'm not picking on just Minute Maid Park. There are a lot of parks with this issue, including Fenway.

Interesting from watching TV this morning and at lunch the line in today's baseball media is "well Verlander is going for the Astros so they'll win and can the Sox really trust Price?" It's amazing what the Sox need to do to get respect.
I like the net effect of pitching Price v Verlander in this game. He is an very effective post season guy, yes. The net effect of having Sale pushed back is even better for us at home vs Cole. His odds are better than facing Verlander and using up his start on the road. Just some musings.
What has been driving me nuts is the play by play guy for TBS spends about 80 per cent of his time talking about Astros players.

Definitely - I usually put the sound down VERY low.
Can't stand them - they are clearly pro-Astros.
Although yesterday they were a little better.
Wel I might as well fess up to my less than brave antics last night. I was so done in by how long this game was taking and how much tension there was in just about every inning that I folded the tend and went to bed after the 7th frame. I was all done in from tension, stress and anger at the goings on as our guys kept stumbling, recovering, faltering and then raising the standard. I felt an hour or two of shut-eye and I would force myself to look at my phone to see if I would get up in the morning happy or miserable, but just as I did my pal Terry called to tell me our guys won. Sorry for chickening out on my friends here but I was gassed, scared and out of my mind. Being ahead 3-1 is nice and we ought to be able to win one more game but I'm taking no chances and making no move to get travel plans until if and when we win the AL Title.

Ron Darling is one of the announcers right? He grew up a Red Sox fan and tells us on numerous tapes that when he reads the sports section of his papers in the morning the first box score he looks for is the Red Sox one. Hard to understand his penchant for acting like he's pro Astro unless he bending over ass backwards trying to portray himself as non-partisan.
Darling isn't as bad as the play by play guy who talks incessantly about the Astros.( BTW Ron Darling graduated from St.John's High School in Shrewsbury Mass a perennial athletic powerhouse in Central Massachusetts and my alma mater)
Chris Russo who predicted that Yankees were going to beat the Red Sox and the Astros were going to beat Boston in 5 or 6 at the most, really unloaded on the Astros today. He was especially critical about the Astros pitching and boneheaded plays. Must say I got a particular kick out of this Red Sox haters going bonkers as their teams aren't living up to their predictions.
HOW about J B J ???? With help from MR. JIM RICE...…. B I N G O !!! thumb_u thumb_u rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl
