Now we face another southpaw so our better lefthanded hitters will be on the pine while weaker hitters are in the lineup so mad scientist Alex can platoon his ass at a another possible disappointing game.  I sure as hell hope not.  We need a series win very badly when you consider our two wins  vs KC so far have been lucky ones.  And will our offense finally start raking again?  It would be swell if was tonight because time is starting to get very short for any real chance of making any kind of run at all.  Truth be told I was relieved that we luckily pulled out a win last night.

Cora seems to have a pattern -- the A Team from the bullpen -- who pitched last night after Pivetta.  WOuld be Schreiber, Winchowski, Martin, Jansen.  On the followup nights he seems to counter with Bernardino, Murphy, Llovelo and whoever is not on the DFA list, or about to go on the DFA after that game!!. That latter combo has had some crazy outcomes over the last several weeks.

That little guy Reyes keeps hitting.  Cora employed the mainstays again tonight, Schreiber, Winch, Martin and Jansen to preserve the shutout.  And Sox pick up games on the Jays again.

Kudos for Alex tonight.  He did keep his mainstays in the lineup and he handled the bullpen wisely.  We won three of four from the Royals and when was the last time we took three of four from anyone???  Seems like a long time ago.  Good to see Storey finally open up with that double to end his two plus game hitting drought.  Paxton did very well but he seemed to have trouble with the first batter in just about every inning, giving up a hit.  Still he wormed his way out of trouble which some of our pitchers have had trouble with the past two weeks.  It would be swell to keep this up in our series with Detroit, a better team than KC but one we're had some success with  the past five or six years.  This win felt good; now if our hitters will start cranking out hits it might get us in a better position.  Please guys, no more letdowns

We've got a rarity for us. A nice 7-8-9th inning combo. You could even say Schrieber for the 6th, or that one tenuous spot in the game when the starter has some runners get on. That also means 3 of the last 4 nights for three of them. It's gonna be 2 of the long lefties tonight, me thinks. Or they add Barraclough to the mix.

Reyes can hit well when he's not in kill mode. He was pressing to impress big time during his extended rehab. He's got upper .260-.280 BA throughout his long minor league career, IIRC.

I thought that umpire's out of the base line call was as weak as it gets. We've seen plenty far worse not get called.
