Sunday Night ESPN game. Usually not a good thing for the Sox.

No matter my friend......we need to suck it up and play a top notch ball game tonight.  We blew it badly getting waxed by the A's those last two games we played them and we must NOT lose this series because he cannot afford to.  We must put three and four game winning streaks together over the next month to close the gap.  Losing two of three to the Mets at home could be a deal breaker since the New Yorkers haven't much of a team the past six weeks.  Then again, we have blown hot and cold as well as so many other teams in the AL.  The problem here is that a couple of teams ahead of us could still afford to do that.....WE CANNOT.!!!!!!!!!!! Let's win today before we go on the road.

This is fourth game Arroyo has sat out.  Cora offered -- he jammed a thumb out in Oakland.  Pre IL stuff, or shuffling to hold onto Kike ?

Some dumb base running this game. Somehow they're still up 5-0.

I'm sorry, ESPNholes, are we watching a Yankees game? No? Then STFU! A whole half a fricking inning about Aaron Judge. Sideline reporting about Aaron Judge. Leave it up to ESPN to spend half a fricking inning talking about the fricking Yankees. Damn!!!@!@

Nice win for the Sox. On to Tuesday and the Braves.

Amazing that Mets bankrolling that team with Verlander, Scherzer, Diaz doesn't assure wins in the new game of big money ball clubs.  Happy to see Murphy showing good stuff in bulk innings. A shot in the arm for a weary staff.  Some say he only threw two pitches tonight.

Once again ESPN demonstrates why they should not be allowed to broadcast a baseball game.  They are awful.

The Mets might not be lighting it up on the mound, but their real issue is that lineup isn't hitting. The good old fashioned batting average. They are like the Red Sox pitching-wise, which is sad considering the big guns at the top of the Mets rotation. batting Average and Runs - Red Sox are 3rd and 5th, Mets are 20th and 18th. Red Sox are hitting 30 points higher with RISP.

McNeil and Alonso are down 70 points. Lindor is down 50 points. Vogelbach and Cahne are down 30 points. A couple other position replacements lost some offense form last year. The Catcher is the only real gain.

A lot of the same things can be said about the Padres of we're talking big money star power not getting it done. They are 23rd in BA, but do score more 13th in Runs.

It was brought up last night about the new rules.  Lindor was getting big hits last year against the shift.  This year there is a player filling those holes.  I'm not sure the new rules on the clock for batters has an effect or not.
