Lots of rumors surrounding Sox and Yuli Gurriel,  Would add depth or flexibility at 1B.

Chris Cottillo thinks Guriel is about the same as Turner provides.  Unless Guriel would platoon with Casas at 1B.  Hes 39 y.o., but just a couple years removed from a batting champion.  The only thing I see here, theyre getting ready to move Dalbec and need depth at 1B.  also Casas is coming off a  knee problem a couple months ago.

I would think the idea is a platoon with Casas.

Well, we need to have a backup corner IF at a minimum. If it's a good defensive 1B (least formerly) to help Casas along and take a few LHP reps, that's fine. I would rather not see an all out platoon until it's proven as a long term need. Guriel getting 250ABs verses lefties does not help us in 2024 & beyond.
