I read that Houck has been shortchanged $44,000 by being optioned up and down the AAA ladder this season.  Of course, many of those moveswere by necessity. But the Sox should sweeten the pot for Tanner when his contract arbitration comes due.  And he has been selected to face off against some pretty good teams this year, like NYY.

I don't know if you can call it shortchanged.  A lot of teams move guys up and down like that and use that flexibility.  Why suck up a roster spot for a few days when you don't have to?

Things go up and other things go down. Duran was optioned today to make room for Houck.  In about another week there will be the yearly call ups (from Worcester). It will be good to see which young pitchers can serve Boston in ‘22.

Sox have an early deficit.  And the free swinging Boston batters go down in order in the 1st on 8 pitches.  Houck usually gets little run support.  Maybe the new hands will change that.

Shaw with another dinger in his second AB since returning. Liking that trend.

Cora sends Houck out in the 5th and then yanks him one out shy of a possible win. Yes, there's a runner on 2B, but there was for the last batter as well. Hopefully Taylor ends this quickly.

Perez gives up a 2-run dinger. Now 9-6. This game is far from over.
