I just saw this on the 'Sox MLB site regarding Brasier. This was attributed to yesterday. In a word - yikes!

"
It's the three-week anniversary of when Brasier was belted on the right side of his face while pitching in a sim game as he rehabbed from a left calf injury suffered in Spring Training. Though Brasier hasn’t resumed baseball activities yet, he was in Boston for Friday’s opener of a three-game series against the Yankees, marking the first time he had seen his teammates in months.

“He came up here to get checked up, to see some doctors,” said manager Alex Cora. “No baseball activities [yet], but the fact that he’s here, it means a lot. He looks great, actually -- physically. He had a big smile today. I can’t even imagine what he’s been thinking the last few weeks, right? To get hit with a line drive in the head, I can’t even imagine where your thoughts are at. The fact that he’s here, it means a lot to us.” (Last updated: June 25)

Sox eke out another run but leave the bases loaded. Now 3-0.

Xander with another sac fly. Been a small-ball sort of game. Sox up 4-0.

Sawamura is going to walk the Yankees to a win. Cora pulled Nate for this?

Whew, Ottavino finally gets it done. Sox win 4-2 to take the series.

It seems the Red Sox always scare us when we play the Yankees but somehow there are years when we get the better of them, and tonight, scary as it was, we beat them again, this time 4-2. Eovaldi has beaten the Yanks twice and his ERA against them is hit best against any team.  That part is good.  What is not part of our better half is the fact that we most often do NOT sweep a series and that is what we would all like to see tomorrow.  Winning the series is very good; sweeping the New Yorkers again would be even better.

That was a win-win on so many fronts.  In May the NY press was dogging Ottavino for being a part of a failed deal for Sox, who picked up the $9mil contract.  But in June Otta has turned the tables with two good appearances in this series.  To top it off, Whitlock, who the Yanks exposed in the Rule 5, had two solid innings Friday.

I was happy for Chavis.  He looked steady in the first two games.  And to see Wong in there catching last night , bodes well for the Sox future.  The guy is an athlete, played short and 3rd in college, and reminds a little of Swihart, but without the power.  Bogey is just a big game guy.  He will be deserving of a mega deal when the Sox try to write a new contract next year.
