BOSTON, (80-34).....................................................................................TORONTO, (51-61)

BOSTON:

BRIAN JOHNSON, LHP, 2-3, 3.74 ERA, 63K

Once again, Johnson will fill in for Chris Sale, who is recovering from inflamation
in his shoulder.  Johnson gave up four runs in his first two innings last time out, but
got the win.  In three career starts vs the Jays, he is 1-0 with a 5.17 ERA.

TORONTO:

MIKE HAUSSCHILD, RHP, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5K

Hauschild earned a start after impressing with six innings of scoreless relief
last time out against the Mariners.  The Blue Jays signed the righty after the Astros
released him.  He spent most of 2018 with the Triple-A-Fresno.

Open for business.  Sox need to figure out this hack that Toronto has out there.

Schloicka

At least Sox took advantage of the pitcher. 4-0 right now.

Jays get on the board with a 2 run hr. 7-2 Sox after 6.

Devers looks like the time off did him well.  Meanwhile Johnson has held his own.

Johnson's done well. Just given up the 2 run hr so far. It surprises me more when a team doesn't hit a hr these days then when they do. If he can give us 7 decent innings I'll be happy.

So much for that idea. HR Jays. 8-5 Sox now end of the 7th.

Time to yank Johnson (why does that sound weird?).

Well almost.  Too bad as he was having a pretty good outing.  I can’t fault Cora too much for leaving him in, he hadn’t had much trouble until then.  But he probably should have had someone at least loosening up knowing it was last inning most likely no matter what.

Sounds like a job for a buddy of mine who has a new title of “Release Architect”!
