WHY is Aaron Boone using his good relief pitchers?

They are going to win this game.

Seems ridiculous to be using Betances and Chapman.

Sox manage to squeak out a run. Keeps the shutout count low, at least. Still an embarrassing rout.

From Shaughnessy's Boston Globe article just now:

QuoteHere are the bloody numbers. Since joining the Red Sox, Price is 2-6 with an 8.43 ERA in nine starts against the Yankees. He has given up 13 homers in 47 innings. In five starts in the Bronx, he is 0-5 with a 10.44 ERA, yielding 10 homers in 25 innings. In 4⅓ innings vs. New York this year, he has given up 12 runs on 12 hits (six homers). Of the 126 Sox starters to start five or more games against the Yankees, Price’s ERA vs. the Bombers ranks 125th (courtesy of Alex Speier).

What will be David Price's excuse tonight for pitching so poorly
against the Yankees??

MEANWHILE, Jon Lester has 11 wins this season and hit a 3 run home run
today.

SOX Front Office SHOULD have offered Jon Lester a salary worthy of his
World Series 2013 win - probably around $160 million - rather than giving
A LOT more money a few years later to David Price.

Sunday night ESPN game. Never a good omen.

More like a living nightmare----and that it was tonight markj.  But at least we don't have to hem and haw about if Cora and done this or the hitters had done that or the pitchers did anything worth a damn because we got the hell kicked out of us tonight.  Turn the page and look to the coming week.  Scherzer tomorrow and that means we had better play a much better game than tonight.

Well that is on Prune Face Henry.  He allowed that shithead Larry Lucchino to once again (for the upteenth time) meddle in Baseball Ops and offered Jon an insulting offer and it led to us losing him.  Face it, there may be other owners who stink but Henry has made more than enough blunders the past decade.  He was given a second chance in 2013 and pissed that away.  I have wondered though if Lucchino's screwing up of the Lester negotiations was the cause for pruney finally sending the louse out of Boston.

I was thinking the same thing tonight, Fred.  How we let Lester move on over a few mill.  Then pay Price a King's Ransom to be a total disaster.   Henry isn't suffering; he's got billions.  Price isn't suffering; he's got 200M+ coming to him.  The fans have to suffer watching Price in decline to obscurity in his post TB/DET years.  He's done.  Most expensive bad end starter in HISTORY. What an embarrassment.  Can't wait until he rips the fans and media with his usual disdain for us....

A-Rod doesn't sound like he is too impressed with Price's pace.  Price is pitching like E-Rod did Friday night,  too much time between pitches and not confident.

Price has had a lousy record against the Yankees while with the Sox.  Go figure, he's been pitching well this year.  My problem is that this guy is not an ace even though his reputation was that he would be far better.  He's not a terrible pitcher (he was last night though), but is also not what we had hoped.

Washington won't be cupcakes either and the pitchers will be hitting.  Will be interesting to see how Cora "rests" players as a result.

Buckley in today's Herald roasts Price.

Elk, this would have been good to post in the Red Sox news section.  I'll look it up and post it, but next time feel free to put it up there yourself!
