The Padres appear to be the leader in the Soto sweepstakes

The Padres would send to the #Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams, left-handed pitchers Mackenzie Gore and Adrian Morejon, as well as outfielders Robert Hassell III (No. 23 MLB prospect), Joshua Mears (No. 8 Padres prospect) .

The Mariners yesterday traded with the Reds for Luis Castillo, one of the best pitchers in the NL the last two years.  The Yankees had told the Reds all along that their top prospect Anthony Volpe would not be a part of the Castillo trade.

After thought reactions to the trade, looks like Mariners gave up a good part of the farm for Castillo, although he is under contract for '22 and '23. M’s gave up four, including two of their top 10 in Arroyo and Novelte Marte, the #12 prospect overall start of year, may have slipped.

Lots of moving parts going to Wash. and Padres today.  Soto and Josh Bell go west, then to the Nats -- Hosmer, P Gore, P Susana, Wood, Abrams, Hassel.  Serves notice to LAD.  Will the Dodgers now be calling the Blooming onion?

I'd think everyone would be calling Chaim just to see what they can fleece him out of.  If they've got any weak hitting sex offenders the Sox are probably interested.
