RED SOX V BLUE JAYS
THURSDAY, APRIL 26, 2018, 7:07 PM AT ROGERS CENTRE
TV: NESN, SNET-1, MLBN, (OUT-OF-MARKET ONLY)
BOSTON, (18-5)........................................................................................TORONTO, (14-9)
BOSTON:
CHRIS SALE, LHP, 1-1, 1.86 ERA, 41K
Boston moved Sale up in the rotation a day to give Drew Pomeranz an extra
day's rest after his first start off the disabled list. Sale struck out a season-high
10 vs the A's on Saturday, but his outing was overshadowed by Sean Manaea's
no-hitter.
TORONTO:
MARCO ESTRADA, RHP, 2-1, 5.32 ERA, 18K
Estrada has experienced some issues with the long ball so far this season. He
has allowed six home runs in four starts, and he is coming off a year in which he
surrendered a career-high 31 homers over 33 starts.

No posting until the game starts. Thank you
In each of the last 4 games, the Sox have struck out at least 10 times.Tonight would be a good time to correct that.
OH MY - not a good start for Sale.
Bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the first inning.
YIKES

Not a good start indeed .Looked shaky to say the least.
PHEW - only one run.
Jays 1 - Sox 0
A little late for this but good hustle and catch by JD in the 1st to save potential runs.
3 up and 3 Ks.The inability to put the bat on the ball continues.
Devon Travis takes Sale deep.
Sox can't seem to do anything against Estrada -
lots of strikeouts.
WHY do the Sox not score when Sale is on the mound?
Holt continues to rake with his 6th double
Benintendi hits a RBI double.
Jays 2 - Sox 1
Beni finally shows up with rbi double
Nice job, Beni. Bozo.
Beni not paying attention to the fielder. Costs an out.
Beni snapped a 0x16 with an RBI double then forgets how to act on the bases. So he proceeds to get picked off .
Sale gives up another solo shot.
Jays 3 - Sox 1
Guess he needs his full rest . . .
DANG IT
Someone needs to remind Sale to pitch like an ACE.
Devers drives one in. Need another one here.
No such luck.
The way the bats have been lately I am happy to get the 1.
Sale finally with a 1-2-3 inning
JD bomb makes it 5-3
Attaboy, JD
WOW!
JD Martinez hits a 3 run homer!!!
Sox 5 - Jays 3
Sale pulls a Pedro and stays out there.
Worked out okay.
GET RID of Carson Smith.
Smith is downright terrible
He's useless. He needs to be gone.
Attaboy, Barnes.
Big K by Barnes.
Back-to-back walks. Nice.
Lucked out there.
Whew, out of it.
Seems like an adventure every time with Barnes
Kimbrel does his thing. Another series win.
Big win and heading to the Fens with hope the bats WAKE UP

From what Carson Smith has done for us I can't understand how DD could trade for him and send Travis Shaw, a solid power hitter away in exchange. Apparently his injury has denuded his stuff and ability to pitch because he has shown us nothing and again tonight he failed when called upon.

That's why he's called a meatball. Can't handle tough situations is the way he was described but you would think by now he would have been able to handle the pressure. Still he got out of it.
I would like to say that order was restored tonight with our second one run win on the road, a sign of a good team because close wins on the road are usually a sign of a team being able to be a winner. HOWEVER, a hot Rays team is coming to Boston tomorrow evening and we're still not hitting in sync. When two guys are hot, three are cold and our offense from our catchers in sad indeed. Tomorrow we face a left and I want to see our team come out smoking and it would help if Cora puts as many right handed hitters in the lineup as possible. Perhaps Cora could grow a brain and give Blake Swihart a chance to finally show he can outhit both Vaz and Leon.
Still we came back and won this series and maybe the worst is over. And what did I tell all of you about Minnesota?????? They suck miserably whenever they play the Yankees and my hope was that it would only be a three game series but when I read it would be four I anticipated the worst. I hate the Twinkies and wish they would lose every damn game they play and their stadium would be engulfed in an avalanche and be snowed away. Let those bums play in a barnyard.
Hope Sale doesn't get any ideas and starts to struggle early, because he finally got the run support to earn a W ;)
In spite of his adventures Barnes is usually reliable and gets out of his messes; it's Carson Smith who's gotta be put on mop up duty.....
19 & 5 .... "VICTORY goes to those who want it the most, want it the longest" !! thumb_u
Carson Smith went 2/3 with 2 hits, a walk and a run - and we're lucky it wasn't worse. Give Barnes credit for cleaning up his mess.
JDM did what he was supposed to do. A year ago the Sox would have lost that game 4-2.
Cora seems to have settled down a little on the lineup changes the last couple of days, although Beni could maybe benefit from a sit-down, but not Mookie, Hanley or JDM. Bogey will be back tonight so he can fulfill his urge to rest someone by resting an infielder.
Sox seem to be settling into a normal rhythm of play now, winning "normal" games rather than blowouts.
Smith may just need more work ?? iono

Guys having great games is what bothers me with Cora.We saw this before that he gets weird with his lineup changes.Definitely didn`t get that from Hinch.

Beni breaks a 0-16 slide with 2 hits a so he gets benched tonight. Why not play him see what he does. Should have benched him at 0-12.

And Bradley who went hitless on Thursday was in the lineup again tonight and went 0 for 4 and now down to 205. HOW MUCH MORE ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO ENDURE FROM THIS ROTTEN SHITTY HITTER??????? His defense is never going to cover for his inept hitting. Look, this has been going on since 2014 when he was crappy all year, while in 2015 he had one big hot streak before he crapped out totally in September. Two good long streaks in '16 before a total meltdown the last seven or so weeks and now worse than ever. Get his ass out of the lineup and use him as a defensive replacement in late innings. He is not going to ever be a decent hitter for us and to be honest I'm totally sick of seeing him flail away at the plate. He is totally shitty.
