Get Bogaerts the hell out of the RBI laden fifth spot in the order. He simply cannot hit with men on bases--my God, can't Cora and the front office see that? Bat him second or drop him down to seventh---just get him the hell out of a key spot. He hits better with no one on base and the sooner the front office and Cora realize that the better. And as hard as it is to say, at the rate we're going we will find if nearly impossible to keep carrying Bradley Jr and Vazquez in the lineup if they don't hitting---which most likely they will not. You simply CANNOT CARRY TWO STIFFS IN THE LINEUP AND HAVE ONE OF YOUR SUPPOSED KEY HIT TERS CONSTANTLY FAILING IN THE CLUTCH.
Xander with an RBI double. Sox up 2-0.
Nunez drives in Bogie. Now 3-0. Glad to see some early offense in support of a pretty good (so far) outing by E-rod.
Nice to see some signs of life. Could be more if the LF wasn’t playing in the power alley. The Baltimore announcemers were pointing out that the O’s OF is playing pinched toward the center.
Bogey with an RBI, but Bradley still back on earth.
Yep, E-Rod is displaying what steady pitchers do. Where have those guys been this season?
E-rod at 70 pitches through 5 clean innings. Best start for the Sox so far this year. I'd love to see him get two more innings in.
Xander with a completely blown play. Hope this doesn't psych E-rod out.

Shocking isn’t it? I couldn’t believe it was the 6th inning and our starter is still in. Game is flying by too
Ok, Xander and Nunez turn a DP and get out of the inning. E-rod still cruising.
Bogie made an error. It is that damn hiccup in his throw to first again. Never understood why they didn't correct that in the minors.
Baltimore pitcher as doing well. I can’t imagine their bullpen is very good so let’s see if the Sox can do some more damage now.
Mookie with an uncharacteristic gaffe.

Mookie with an uncharacteristic gaffe.
A hallmark of this season, like the one that fell between him and JBJ, or Beni who has missed a couple he seemed to make in every game last year. That last one looked fairly routine but he just missed it. I was surprised they charged it to a hit.
Xander with another blown play. Should have easily grabbed that throw from Vaz.
E-rod gives up a 2-run dinger. He's done. Still a good outing and that dinger was worse than it needed to be because Xander blew the pickoff attempt.
The team is still playing unfocused defense,
Wild pitch gives the Sox another run. Now 4-2.
JBJ with a real gem of a catch.
Nunez with another RBI. Sox up 5-2.
JBJ with a sac fly. 6-2 Sox.
Thornburg being his usual useless self gives up a 2-run dinger and still has no outs. Now 6-4.
Hey, he got an out. Here comes Cora to yank him.
When are they going to DFA Thornburg
Thornburg is simply awful
Let’s hope Chris Davis doesn’t somehow extend this!
Braiser closes it out. Sox win 6-4.
Some goodness in this game. E-rod with a good out, some decent defensive plays (also some gaffes), some timely hitting, and Rem Dawg back in the booth. thumb_u
Good signs of life, even if it is against the O’s. The Sox get good starting pitching, some decent offense, other than Thornburg, the pen once again got the job done. The defense, JBJ excluded, is still pretty rusty. That’s another hangover of Alex Cora’s Springtime Camp for Pampered Major Leaguers. But by the end of this series the Sox may be in playing shape. Like I said before, at least a week away when they came back from the west coast and so far just 3 more games after that.
Still, nice to see a fairly textbook win.

Well markj that just me up---temporarily, but I would like to see him do that more often. If he did I would be more than willing to tuck in my horns. I am still waiting for Mookie Betts to get hot and for JD Martinez to get real hot. They are the keys to our offense.
However, E-Rod pitched a solid game tonight and pitched into the seventh inning and I wasn't ticked when Alex let him start that inning. We finally got a well pitched game from one of our starters and some clutch hits as well (Bogey???? Yes!!!!!) Still our defense needs work from Vaz to Bogey on down the line. Relief pitching save for the Thorn was good as well. Let's see if we can go on a run now. We need to start winning games in bunches.....like continuing this tomorrow. And ALEX-----DON'T WAIT FOR PORCELLO TO START GIVING UP FIVE OR SIX RUNS.. When he loses it is usually a big bad inning. Get him the hell out of there before than happens. Then, again, maybe Rick will surprise us and pitch as Eduardo did tonight.

When he came in I said oh oh. I just knew. Didn't most of you too? Dombrowski does not want to admit he made the worst mistake in his tenure by making that trade for that bum. Of all the players who contributed to our great run last year the only team member who did absolutely nothing was the Thorn. Imagine giving up a 30 homer, 100 RBI guy for this POS?????? Get rid of him.
RED SOX WIN, RED SOX WIN !!!! Two in a row & now 5 & 9 and moving up...… THE JUG/A/NOT IS WARMING TO THE CAUSE !!! Go SOX, make HAY of these O'BIRDS !!!!!
After a sleepy start the Sox are in a virtual tie with NYY. however the Rays are running away with the ALE. sigh

I like you just knew he would screw it up. Walking the leadoff guy with a 4 run lead was inexcusable. The second he threw that fastball you just knew it was gone. He has no movement on his fastball. Hitters will sit on it everytime.
BTW one curious note even the Os announcers commented on how little the Red Sox starters worked in ST and how that contributed to the club's poor start.
Erod actually looked good against the AAAA Os.

JD is fine - .321, 3 HRs and 9 RBIs. If he wasn't hitting everything to dead center it would be even more. Mookie is okay, not hot, but not bad either. He seems to be showing signs of life now too.

I've found that while I don't like Thorne in particular, they have good analysis on the O's broadcasts.
Thornburg is a disaster. Only Carson Smith may have been a worse Sox deal.
