OAKLAND COLISEUM, OAKLAND, CA
TV: NESN, NECSA,CA
BOSTON, (1-5)...................................................................................................OAKLAND, (5-3)
BOSTON:
NATHAN EOVALDI, RHP, 0-0, 10:08 ERA
The hard-throwing righty gave up three homers and six runs in his first start,
lasting five innings, taking a no-decision. Eovaldi, looking for a better result at
Oakland where he is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA lifetime.
OAKLAND:
MARCO ESTRADA, RHP, 0-0, 2.45 ERA, 4K
Estrada's on the record as saying that he aspires to pitch a nine-inning complete
game. He never has achieved one in his 191 regular-season ML starts, though he worked
8-2/3 innings at Tampa Bay on June 4, 2015 at Toronto

Maybe the Sox can scrape up a run or two tonight.
Or not.
Could Cora be sending Xman a message about loafing by sitting him tonight? Or have they put forth some other reason?
Eovaldi hits one batter and walks the next. Still only one out in the first.
Nice DP gets them out of the inning with no damage.
Supposedly Xman is resting because of a sore leg from a foul ball last night.
Bases loaded, no outs. About to get real ugly here.
Amazingly, they're out of that inning with just the one run.
Eovaldi gives up a 2-run dinger. Sox now down 3-0. 22 innings with no runs.
Sox have now gone 22 innings against the A's with NO RUNS.
WHAT the HECK???????
At least in Seattle, they scored runs.
Finally the Sox score a run!! Swihart goes deep to center with a solo dinger.

FINALLY a run!
Thanks Blake Swihart.
A's 3 - Sox 1
A's blow a DP that allows the inning to continue. JD makes them pay with a 2-run double. Game tied at 3 now.

ACTUALLY JD walked and Mitch Moreland hit the 2 run double!
Sox 3 - A's 3
We have a game . . .
That's what I get for trying to multi-task.
Sox score 3 runs in the 9th!!
Swihart single, JBJ single, Mookie double and Benni triple.
Sox 6 - A's 3.
FINALLY, the Sox SCORE RUNS and WIN!
FEELS GOOD!
Sox win 6-3. Barnes with the win. Brasier with the save. Finally back in the win column. On to Thursday at 3:30 Eastern time.
They've found the solution. Start Nathan ---- it results in a win every time! thumb_u
Really nice to sense some SOX happiness. 155 to go and we are still alive folks.
A really bizarre season so far with WS champ and over hyped NYY on the bottom of ALE within 1/2 games. On top of that questions on health of Sale, Price, Pedey and Yanks with 7-8 key players injured and several on the way to IL.
Meanwhile O's, arguably worst team in baseball, are near the top.

Come on markj----only women can multitask. We men are one trick ponies. My motto to the wife when I have things to do is: FIRST THINGS FIRST.

True. My wife can look at me and carry on a discussion while typing flawlessly on her keyboard about something else. Drives me nuts. I don't chew gum because I
have to walk. sigh

Hard to figure this out Sea Dog and I think Murph and the others are just as confused as you and I are. I don't think we're out of the woods yet but we could be getting close as long as we all agree that a 2018 repeat record wise is out the window for us and everyone else playing Major League baseball this season. Injuries, off seasons, sub-par pitching, they all could waylay teams until it almost become a "last man standing" type of season. It was a good win, though, coming from behind last night but it would be even greater to split the series by winning today's duke as well.
In an afternoon affair Thurs. Sox up on A's 2-0 in the 2nd. Looks like A's pitcher is plagued by walks early on.
