So .220 JBJ replaces Refsnyder, a .400 hitter in CF? It is what it is. Verdugo and Story are not contributing either in their slumps.
I think we saw why Refsnyder was signed last Fall. He's a legit OF'er.
Alright, so Winckowski, Act II. Hopefully it goes better. :)
Anyone wanting to see a sneak preview of what could be should tune into MLB at 6:45. According to the MLB site, they will show Brayan Bello's start for the WooSox. It said MLB.Com and MLB.TV. Not sure if it's just a free streaming thing or if it's on the MLB Netowrk on cable (or whatever).
Chris Speier says Jaren Duran got a callup today. Not because he is a great player and as fast as the wind, but because Arroyo is on the Covid protocol list.

Winckowski??????? Seems like he pitched a game for us recently against, who was it, the Orioles, and looked like turd warmed over.......and he's one of the guys we got in the Benintendi trade. Some trade, huh? Let's keep our fingers crossed that Bloomer Boy finally hit paydirt with one of his trades because so far he hasn't been worth crap in that role.

Yes, it is what it is, and as long as Bradleypoo is with us that is what it will stay since he is Henry's favorite and most likely Cora's too. Refsnyder had better go into a slump because if he stays got and keeps getting hits we most likely will see a blurb where he is sent down to make room for a relief pitcher. Anything to keep their JBJ in the lineup, one of the worst hitters in baseball who has been that since he first donned our uniform permanently in 2014 save for a decent 2016 season. Aside from that he hasn't been worth shit.
I hope Duran isn't pressing tonight. He's battling several of tonight's team-mates for big league PT. Kike will probably be back soon anyhow, so enjoy the coffee?
I hope Winckowski has his control tonight. It's supposed to be part of his calling card. It was far from right with his first start.
The Orioles claimed Arauz. Valdez down to Worcester.
Bases juiced, one out. Why do I sense a GIDP coming up?
Infield grounder that was mishandled. Verdugo out, but at least one run came in.
Bases loaded up twice and only one run out of it.
Raffy with a 2-run blast, then a single run in the 3rd. Winch man is holding his own. 4-0.
Finally putting up some runs. Sox up 5-0 now.
Winckowski's been in the game for over an hour and a half and only thrown 4 innings. Zzzzzz....
That's my last complaint on Duran and being MLB ready. He should have made a go of that floating liner with JBJ behind him. Just a bit too timid with his speed. Everything else is just reps, and maybe this is too.
Winchy did ok. 5 innings is good for a rookie.
Sox up 8-1 after Verdugo's HR.
Sox piling it on.
I wonder if Cora would have left him in another inning if he had not landed oddly a couple of times in his last couple of batters.
XB and Devers can square up with pitches that almost nobody can. Such fun to watch on defense this year, too. Story's getting used to 2b just fine. Cpuple of nice turns theu've had the last two nights. Made Kemp's GIDP look easy.
The past 30 games have been fun to watch, but this team needs to beat AL East teams before I develop any faith in them. They couldn't even handle Baltimore and they're 9-13 against teams over 500. Beating up on cellar dwellers might be good for a short term high, but it doesn't get you far in the post season if you can't compete in your own division.

Indeed! OB was ranting a little heavy in their defense last night. I see his point, but I don't see it's weight on the grand scheme. Beat the teams you're supposed to beat and do well against the rest. Not quite there yet on the latter, but hopefully that's behind us soon.
To me, all those games we blew while the pen imploded and the offense was getting little done meant that we were at least
IN those games. A mildly effective closer and we're easily 4-5 games ahead of where we are now. That's with an offense that sputtered for 20+ games out of the gate, too.
