Houck? That doesn't inspire confidence.

I would consider this a bullpen game.
If I had to put money on th wild card chances, I would expect to see Eovaldi, then Sale. If days of rest is in the equation, I’d say getting to the playoffs is the name of the game, go for it. A bull pen game IMO probably puts you in a one-game playoff (with Jays?) just to get to a wild card. It is what it is.

Sale is scheduled for tomorrow. Eovaldi pitched Wednesday.
Rays up over the Yanks 7-1 in the 3rd.

NICE !!!! NO ROOM FOR BOBBY DALBEC TODAY ???????? iono iono sigh sigh
Brandon Lowe with 3 dingers against the Yanks today. Sox can draw even with a win because I can't see the Yanks coming back from this one.
Rays put up 12 and won. Jays are well on their way to beating O’s. There could be a 3-way tie behind the Rays if Sox can’t take care of business.
The Deadbats are back.
Finally a tiny bit of offense. Raffy with a solo (of course) dinger.
Houck is pitching a no-no in the 5th at only 53 pitches. Cora has Richards and another RP warming up in the BP. I'll be liviid if he pulls Houck at this point.
I am livid!!!! Cora is an ass!!!
He did pull him!!! WTF?!?!?!
Schwarber with a crappy AB with a runner on. He looked at a pitch that seemed easy and then K'd on one way up out of the zone. Now Xander will produce nothing.
Now would be a good time for a dinger, Raffy. Or Richards will come in and blow this game.
JD wiffs on a slider down and away as usual. Renfroe strikes out looking on a pitch right down broadway.
Braiser survives a cardiac inning
Sox desperately need another run or two. They need to avoid a messy 3-way tie in the WC.
I sincerely hope the Shaw experiment ends after this season.
Bases juiced. Just. Get. A. Hit.
No clutch hitting again. Unreal.
Why does Cora not have his best defensive players in the game?
No matter how this game turns out, it proves Cora.is an idiot. He does not have his best defensive alignment. Moreover taking out Houck after 5 was incompetent.
Finally Cora did something smart having Iggy pinch run.
Whew, a little breathing room at last.
Vaz with a timely hit and he even managed to not get thrown out. Hernandez with a 2-run dinger to suddenly make this look like an easy game.
Yikes, Thompson walked Davis on four balls? I guess some teams have it worse than the Sox.
With Devers it's either a dinger, a K, or he hits directly into the shift. He used to be able to drop a hit into left field at one time.
Earth to Cora, earth to Cora!!! Get Davis out of there!!!
Like I said Cora is a f...ing idiot.
That dipsh*t got burned on this very thing twice already this year. He's 0-for-3 letting pitchers hit/run and going back out. Once in Atlanta and once in Phiily, IIRC. Then now. Just awful.
Amazed that I left a restaurant with some friends and the game tied at one going in to the ninth and now its 5 to 3.

Don't you know that Cora is the smartest baseball manager. He doesn't learn from his mistakes because he doesn't make any.
Dammitt! Vaz lined him out for an outside pitch and he missed. Why not just drill one over? Now the tying run is at the plate.
Whew, that was closer than it needed to be. But at least they closed it out.
I think the Sox clinched a wild card spot. If they win tomorrow they´ll have home field. Although I guess if there’s a three way tie they’d have to have a playoff. Not sure.
Despite Cora's best efforts the Sox win!

They did not clinch a wild card spot per se but they did guarantee that they will play at least once more after tomorrow
They control their way into the playoffs and where they play if they win tomorrow.
Yes, the Sox will live to play another game. The magic number is 91 wins right now. The Sox and Yanks hold the advantage, both with 91 (Toronto and Seattle have 90). Simply put, if Sox and Yanks both win today, they've got the wildcards. But if either lose, Toronto has a great chance playing the lowly Orioles, to get into a play-in with one of the Sox/Yanks for wild card #2, if either lose Sunday.
Seattle has a chance as well at a play-in, since the Angels decided to shut down Ohtani and not pitch him against Mariners today. These are just some notes I've written down, and they could be wrong.
PINCH ME , PINCH ME , ANOTHER WIN !!!! GO SOX , GET TODAY !!! thumb_u thumb_u rofl rofl rofl
