Tough pitching matchup. Rodon has had a very good year, but is coming off the IL.
Let's see how far Houck can go and how far Cora lets him go.
Sale tested positive and won't pitch this weekend.

The Red Sox front office was AWOL on this vaccination thing. Why the hell didn't they make sure the players got the injection or were kept away from close proximity of those who were? It would have been hard to keep them fully segregated but there could have been some precautions taken to make sure this cluster#$%& didn't happen.
A lot of them including Sale apparently are vaccinated and Sale had it before too. Of course you can test positive, be vaccinated and not be sick, but you have to wonder why they can't contain it since other teams that had outbreaks seem to have them all in a day or two and then it was over depending on the cases.
Just frustrating in context with everything else that's frustrating about the Sox.
Interesting interview on WEEI yesterday with Renfroe, a sloppy interview but maybe Renfroe wanted to leave early and not take follow up questions.
"Red Sox OF Hunter Renfroe on team's COVID issues:
"MLB basically told us to stop the testing and just treat the symptoms. We're like "No. We're gonna figure out what's going and keep this thing under control.""
@LouMerloni
: MLB asked you to stop testing?
Renfroe: "Yes."
MLB followed up on the interview and said that what Refroe stated was totally false.

I know several people who had a false positive

Wonder what his & others symptoms where/ are ?????? More homemade chicken soup & jingling beer is good for the system !! There is more to this stuff that meets the eye !!! iono iono
In addition to Bogey being activated, also pitchers Darwinzon Hernandez and Kaleb Ort were called up.
Jonathan Araúz was optioned. Austin Davis goes to paternity list.
You could see that one coming. Oy. Red Sox down 3-0 and Houck is still giving up hits.
Vaz bails Houck out of that jam by gunning down a runner at 2B.
The MLB site says Arauz was put on the 10-day IL. Nothing else mentioned anywhere.
Iglesias with a really bad looking error.
Crappy outing by Houck. Leaving before the end of the 4th having given up 4 runs. Cora is going to burn up some BP arms tonight.
Sox get out of that bases loaded jam. Dalbec made a nice pick of a crappy throw from Xander. I'm getting more and more confident in Dalbec's abilities at 1B. And his improvement at the plate makes him a valid starter.
And as I typed that last post, he nailed a solo dinger. The kid has come along nicely as of late.
Starting lineup corrected. Anyone know why JDM is out? Just a rest day?
Feliz did ok. Sox bats are dead tonight.
Dalbec with a triple to add to his solo dinger. It's a shame the rest of the Sox can't buy a hit.
Taylor's on the verge of blowing this game.
Wow, he got out of it. Sox have one more chance.
What a pen they have, eh? That should serve them well, especially if they can get Kopech on track.
I dunno about JDM. Hopefully a scheduled off day. Vasquez had a 2 day break and is running is butt off, blocking tough pitches and throwing guys out.
PH'ing Shaw for Kike? WTF? Shaw hasn't done squat since his first two ABs.
Oh well, at least everyone else in the ALE race lost tonight, so status quo.

So sad to see the SOX not able to take advantage of the other teams defeats. My gosh, it is September ?? iono iono

And I'm getting more and more convinced that Devers' future is at DH, Casas at first and Dalbec at third. And under no circumstances is Bogaerts to be resigned to a new contract. Shortstop is for our No. 1 draftee who was rated as the best prospect in the country and draft. He is that good.
Devers is the best worst fielder, or maybe the worst best fielder(?) I can remember.
Speaking of enigmas. Did Jeter Downs have a massive let down year for himself or what? He was supposed to be the next 2B. Did he get promoted to AAA too soon?
