29 pitches for E-rod. Wondering why he keeps throwing the ball just inside off the plate to right handers? Not being called a strike and no one is swinging at it. Costing him a lot of pitches.

3-0 Sox. Hope the ump is going to start given E-Rod that low outside pitch. Ump screwed up both Vaz & Beni by calling them strikes when they obviously were not.

Voit has been hotter then hell and you throw him a cookie right down the middle. And to compound the problem you walk Sanchez before the HR who swings at anything. Terrible pitching after your team gets you a couple runs.

Well unless E-Rod has a quick 4th that will be his last inning and most likely won't get past 5 because of the pitch count. Can't go 3-2 on everyone and expect to pitch to many innings. Our starters have been killing the pen all year by not going more than 5 or 6 innings.

If a guy has bad control you don't waste a pitch high out of the zone like they've been doing. Foolish pitch selection as far as I'm concerned. He's had guys 0-2 & 1-2 and ended up walking them because they keep going high out of the zone. Dumb.

How the hell do you get the first 2 outs easily then walk the bases loaded? He even was ahead in the count on a couple of them. I don't even care about the grand slam. E-Rod & Cora put Hembree in the hole. E-Rod should of been pulled before the 3rd walk that inning.

The only good thing about this performance against good teams lately is that I have no chance of being disappointed in the postseason.  I have no hope they’ll do anything.

Cora has a tendency to leave guys in to load the bases and then bring in the reliever.  Usually the reliever merely walks in a run.

2 pitches = Grand slam.

Yankees 6 - Sox 5

I WANT TO WIN THIS GAME.
Enough already.

Making me very nervous for the postseason IF we can't
beat the Yankees now.  NOT boding well .. .

Wright with the win. He really changed the complexion of the game when he came in. Magic number I believe is 2 for the best record in the American League. Sox might of not looked great at times lately but they were 7-3 in their last 10 games. I'll take that winning percentage every 10 games. They could of folded after the grand slam but they hung in and kept playing. Say what you want even if they don't win the World Series it won't be because they didn't give it their all. The odds are stacked against you to win even with the best record. Only 30% of the teams with the best record have won the series. I've enjoyed this season no matter how it ends.

For all our complaining, the Sox have done just what I've been saying they need to do for weeks, and that's maintain a .500 average. Like you say, Geo, they've been playing .700 ball. Now they can kick back and get ready for the ALDS.

The best news?  We beat the Yankees 11-6 and clinched the AL East Title for the third year in a row.  The good news?  Our offense woke up and Wright pitched three solid innings for the win in relief against a team he has had some success against.  The bad news?  E-Rod walking the ballpark and Cora standing there with his finger up his ass and not moving until the bags were full and you could almost predict what would happen with Stanton at the plate.  Well two out of three makes this a good night and we didn't get swept as all three series with the Yankees at YS came out 2-1 for the New Yorkers.  We can pay them back in Boston in the last series and maybe send them to Oakland.  Anyway we're the division champions and I can only hope our offense has awakened and we use our best men in relief and leave the chaff in the bullpen.  What a great feeling to be winners but to me this is only the start.  We need to advance much farther than the past two seasons-----right????????

Very important for Alex to know that there is more at stake in our last nine games than some may believe.  We want home field advantage and if possible we would like to take care of the Yankees the last weekend of the season and try to help force them to go to Oakland for the do or die WC Game.

Exactly, they can help themselves in the postseason by winning now.  Still good time to rest some guys for a day or two at a time, but I don't want to see Spring Training lineups either.  They've got 5 days from that last NY game until the first game of the ALDS during which they'll have plenty of rest.  Keep them sharp.

They need a couple of wins to secure home field advantage, but once they have those wins it's a question of keeping guys sharp or doing everything you can to avoid injuries.

Absolutely Ted---and you only have to look back two seasons to see the wisdom of your remarks.   We won the AL East with a week to spare and Farrell pissed all away with his tinkering and ST type lineups.  The result is we went in to the ALDS against Cleveland flatter than a pancake.   The result was three and out.  You don't lose six of your last seven games in regular season play and expect to be ready and primed for  the post season.  Last year the team just seemed out of sorts and were lucky to even win the AL East since the team lacked unity and leadership all across the board from the field to the dugout to the clubhouse.  We have nine games left and we need to win four or five of them, especially against the Yankees and Indians who we could play in the playoffs.
