The facts are they did not lose three out of four to Toronto because Bloom did or did not make a deal at the trade deadline.  They lost because Barnes pitched stupidly, Vazquez ran the bases stupidly, Nate Eovoldi pitched stupidly and the rest of the regulars generally played braindead baseball. (I haven't specifically mentioned that virtually every other batter is swinging for the fences instead of going with the pitch.)

The trade deadline is a red herring because for the past month since the series in Oakland, well before the trade deadline, this team has played has played fundamentally unsound baseball in virtually every phase of the game and Cora has managed like he has been sleep walking.

On the other hand, a bat may have given the lineup some life and clearly relief help was needed as we had those failures.  They lost two of those games by a run.

If we are speculating here is a few facts to mull over, Anthony Rizzo every Red Sox fans top dream choice at the trade deadline tested positive for civic because he admitted to refused the vaccine.  He could easily have infected an entire team so long as we are speculating.

The fact remains that the Sox blew the lead because their "all star" closer screwed up, not once but twice.  No fantasy trade deadline dream pickup alters that fact nor the fact that the Cubs and other potential trade partners coveted other teams prospects more than they did Red Sox prospects.

And, from what I understand, the Cubbies wanted both Casas and Duran our #1 and 2 prospects to get Rizzo for 2 months.  (Mayer is now #2). The Yanks have the depth to do that, Sox are 1-2 years away from that depth.  A more logical trade for 1B was Cron, voted NL player of the week hitting .560
