On WEEI today, Will Venables, the bench coach and 1B coach Tom Goodwin are out.  Venables tested positive and Goodwin is close contact.  Matt Barnes was pulled earlier this week for testing but rejoined after negative tests. No new news on Duran or JDM in the world of the epidemic.  I guess the Yankees outbreak back in July was a harbinger for Sox, maybe.

Booth guys question whether they will play the night game today.  That is only conjecture.

Well I'll be dammmed.  Shutout by Pivetta.  Cora brings in Barnes, to save the shutout?  Them bam, a walkoff with nobody out.

We're in a full step free fall right now Sea Dog and it will get a lot worse before it starts to get better.  This is so much like 2006 and especially 2011 when we came apart like we are now, only we know where the blame lies.  It's a shame Nick can throw a great game like that and get absolutely no support whatsoever.  Now we have the joy of getting two for the price of one because there is no way we're not going to get bopped on the head again in the second game, but that rotten cheater can smile because he now can put his pets Miserable Marwin and French Fry back in the lineup.  So what, another loss is just that, another loss.  Meanwhile the Yankees came from behind again, this time by four runs and won their game against perennial doormat Seattle who hasn't been in the post season since 2001, totally shitty team from a totally shitty city.

And kudos to Houck.  Last two games, 0 runs given.  And to Whitlock, who pitched 2 strong innings and only one hit, still with a 1.17 era.  Remember the name Kutter Crawford.  A rising star now at Worcester.  Struck out 8 of the first 9 batters last night. 3.27era 1.27 whip.  Projected to be in Boston some time next year, maybe ... maybe relief  or back of the rotation.

The scouts seem to be giving up on Downs whose avg is down in the .100s.  The future at 2B appears to belong to Nick Yorke, who was top draft pick iirc, last year.  Yorke was on the demand list by teams inquiring about last weeks trade.  Not available apparently.  Would you guys have traded Cassas and Duran for Anthony Rizzo?  That was apparently being the trade the Cubs wanted.
