The interesting with the Astros is that they are the only team that has solved both our starting and relief pitching.  Makes you wonder!

The Astros are a pretty crafty bunch of contact hitters.  Confounding our pitchers by fouling off their best pitches and lots of times just slap hitters, not swinging for the fences by every batter.  There is also some scuttlebutt, no hard reporting yet, that MLB may visit Astros pitchers for substance, as their spin rates are way too good.  Maybe the league would like another shot at Houston.

Kiki and Hunter playing hot potato in the outfield. Cost a run.

ANOTHER hard game to watch.
The Astros keep hitting and the Sox keep getting out.
Sox have 3 hits and the Astros have 13
Going to the top of the 8th inning
Astros 6 - Sox 3

Have to root for the Washington Nationals to beat the Rays.

BoSoxFanNY

CRAP!
Astros 8 - Sox 3
Still in the top of the 8th inning.

Thought this game would be different when the Sox
scored 2 runs in the first inning . . .

Stro's certainly seem to have the Sox pitchers all figured out.

Yup.

AND, DANG IT - the Rays just tied their game with the Nationals.

BoSoxFanNY

Thank you Nationals for beating the Rays 9 - 7 in
11 innings.

That was all on Hernandez.  He's not an every day player but Cora keeps forcing him into it.  Renfroe is a pro and knows its the CF's call but clearly never got called off but was expecting he would be.

I don't know what it is with the Sox and these guys.  The defense crumbles.  They're out of position a lot (the number of ground ball base hits is staggering).  They continue to swing at everything (in spite of A-Rod's claims to the contrary the other night).  Of course it doesn't help that we continue to have complete dead spots in the lineup.

The Astros hitters were swinging for contact and willing to go the other way.  Sox hitters were trying to pull virtually every pitch.  The difference between the two teams approach toward hitting was quite evident last night.

I’m not going to get emotionally out of shape about the ups and downs of this team.  Bloom said they were going to compete this year.  That they have, but he came up short signing any regular field players, only situation bench players were signed.  The writing was on the wall that this team is limited in a few critical areas that will take good AAA gems to solve in the next year or so.  And They will sign a good FA outfielder and 2B probably, but that is likely in 2022.  But I would relish beating the Yanks this year and not go bananas at the end.

Andreise is an absolute disaster.  ERod
once again has no one to blame but himself. Why did Cora bring in Andreise who is worse than useless. DFA this bozo! Sorry wrong date I reposted on correct thread.
