Four big games with a dangerous Houston Astros team still smarting from all the trash having been heaped upon them (much of it deserved), but still a good team,.  Then a seemingly slumping Yankees team that we all know can be very dangerous. This is the time for our Red Sox to show what they are made of and one way would be for E-Rod to finally get it together and go out there and throw a gem, and for the hitters (miserable Marwin included) to give him the support so we open this seven game torture test with a win.....PERIOD!!!!!!

ERod is going the wrong way.  April era in the 3s.  In May it has hit 6.23.  Brewer was supposed to be an innings eater today, but couldn’t do that.

1 more terrible outing the sore elbow excuse.will becoming from Cora.

While the result of today's game was not totally unexpected, the fact that E-Rod looked once again like shit warmed over tells me Murph that your prediction will come to pass, but it may actually come sooner if Cora hasn't gone completely over the edge in the brain department.  At least we can say we didn't blow a game or lead.  When you get beat like this there is no way you could have won such a game, but Cora needs to get his head out of his ass.  One, get miserable Marwin out of the lineup once and for all.  He below 200 and is looking more like Franchy game by game.  Secondly, Renfroe is hitting very well now; think he might deserve a promotion higher in the lineup?  Third, give Arroyo a full shot at second base, at least for a week or so to let him get settled in.  He should be a lot better that Gonzales.  Let's lastly hope that Tuesday brings gladder tidings than what we witnessed today.

I could not and still cannot fathom that call up. He's had 4 games in Worcester, the last of which was in line with what we saw yesterday that gave him the 9.00 ERA down there. so his prize? "We liked your work down there and think you're ready to jump back to the bigs. Don't change a thing when you get here. And be ready, we'll need you for the we-give-up role."

longgame

E-Rod does this all the time.  All that talent but clearly no head.  He'll go on the IL this week is my guess.

Couldn't believe when I saw Brewer was back up.  I'll give Cora a pass on that as he wasn't here last year, but he was on the team the year before too.  The guy has bad numbers all the way through, shouldn't see the majors again.

Of course after winning a series and having a day off we knew they'd lose anyhow.

The  Sox really lack pitching depth down the line, with Houck, Siebold dinged up, Mata (tj and gone).  If ERod misses any starts, they may go Whitlock and Andriese for several innings.  Ort. as Mongol mentioned, could be close to a call up. Winchowski from the Beni deal, has had a great beginning at Portland and could get a look in September.  The Sox may go pitching in the MLB draft with Jake Leiter  dropping from #1 to 4(??).
