Manoah is a young stud.  2.74 inning, 56Ks in 47 innings.

I'm penciling in a loss.

You mean we will not have to see Martin the Miserable stink up the field this weekend???

On my friend Ted's comment about penciling in a loss, let me say that in all the time I've talked to longgame he has always been upbeat.  For him to show a loser outlook speaks volumes just how bad Red Sox fans have been sinking after what Bloom pulled ( or is that not pulled?) at the trade deadline.  But he has company.  I have an almost complete loser outlook Sea Dog.  I feel Bloom and or Henry gave all Red Sox fans a swift kick in the nuts last week.

Houck is there for a doubleheader so we'll probably see both Perez and Richards.  You know, the guys that Bloom looked at and said "we're good".

You're right Fred, I try not to go through the ups and downs of the season but I think the Sox started to swoon around the beginning of July, everyone anticipated that the Sox would be buyers, excellent players moved and are having an impact on other clubs, Bloom got two bad pickups and injured guy, and the team has responded to that message because in the end their all just a bunch of young guys wanting to win.  One thing that the Sox seem to forget is they have a lot of fans who have been watching this game for a long, long time, far longer than guys like Chaim Bloom and we probably get team dynamics and the concept of striking while the iron is hot from our own personal business experiences.  He seems to not have a feel for either.

It's one thing if they just were a bad team, but they were good and had the rug pulled out from under them by ownership.

One other thing, with the current format of baseball postseason, wining the division is everything.  Making the wild card means going out all out and probably not having your best matchups ready for a one game playoff where anything can happen.  There's a ton of value of wrapping up a division with a few days to go and setting up for the postseason.

I don't get the fascination with Marwin Gonzalez.  He's truly stunk this year.  I'd rather take my chances with Duran in the lineup.

He is one of Cora's favorites and smartness be damned, Cora is going to play him no matter what because the manager is a stubborn butt.  He and Marwin were close friends at Houston when Cora was a coach there and Miserable Marwin was a then a decent player.  He sucks  to high heaven now and every time he plays he is a sunk cost to the lineup.  Duran hit a home run two games ago and then sat on Thursday. Way to go Corapuke so you can get your fellow cheater in the lineup. Hopefully you'll screw up so badly in the next year or so  that your rotten carcass will be shipped out of Boston, you filthy cheater.

A sign the season is going into the toilet, if you Google Red Sox, you also get as many articles from the Boston press about the Pats and the Bruins. There was one today on NBC where Bloom told a reporter that h trade for the mythical Schwarber was better than what NY got in Rizzo and Gallo.  I’m sorry, I did not have the stomach for that BS.  I am enjoying watching Cubs-Chisox today, good pitching, hitting, and the fans are into it.

A report out tonight that Duran has been placed on the IL.  The team says he's been placed on the IL because of COVID.  Duran's agent said he has passed numerous tests recently that showed all negative. His agent thinks he was placed on the IL purely on C19 symptoms.   I wonder if his bat is showing signs of COVID.   :losers

I noticed he wasn't on the active roster. If his newest tests come back negative they can bring him back as they did with Barnes.

JD pops-up with bases loaded and blows a chance to build a nice lead. He's slumping as bad as the team. His BA is down to .280 or so now? I can't believe players of this caliber can't take an easy swing and just put the ball in the outfield. Always with the big swing for the fences.

Our ace is channeling Martin Perez.  I think they could be in fourth place by the end of the weekend.  They look about as bad as any team in baseball right now.

Maybe some of the recent Bloomies can come out of the pen and pour gas on this dumpster fire.

Robles so far has put 3 men on.  I’m almost rooting for a grand slam but I don’t think Bloom will get the message still.

Oh, only a ground rule double.  Great trade deadline move Chaim.  9 runs this inning.  So far.

Putting Duran on the IL because of" symptoms" is just a ruse so Cora can keep playing his pets like Cordero and Gonzales.  It has to be obvious to some what's going on here.  When Bloomer Butt says our getting Schwarber was better than what the Yanks done it has to tell you this  guy from Tampa Bay was not the kind o executivef  they usually produce there.  He is a MORON and as I promised he will be in my cross hairs until his ass is out of town.  We have to have the worst trio of leaders in baseball right now.

He always seems to have a meltdown in his games.  He goes a few innings looking like an ace and then gets the living shit knocked out of him.  Can't the pi tch9ng coach notice what he might be doing incorrectly, like advertising his pitches or something else.  And can't we hit with men on bases.  Well did anyone really expect us to win tonight.  I sure as hell didn't.

Just looking at the aftereffects of the crime scene.  Jeesh.  Tonight was bad, but the pitching matchups coming are precipitous for these Sox.  Ray, Barrios, Ryu all will be on the hill. We did beat Ray last week.

I understand that before Friday's game, the Yanks, Rays and A's were within 3 games of Sox in the WC chase.  That will pretty much vanish by the start of the Rays series.  Maybe we can stabilize the ship by the Orioles series, maybe not,  with this dysfunctional group of guys.

For my sanity I’m watching Triston Casas in the gold metal game.  If Blooming Onion survives this mess,  his future stars are Casas, Mayer, Verdugo.  I know, I know still a couple years off.  But that’s his plan.

The tough thing I think is that we all had low expectations for this club. If I recall, most of us predicted them to finish within a few games of .500.  But they surprised us and we got into this team.  We and they were excited about what they could do, but apparently Bloom wasn’t. If there are graduate programs in how to manage pro sports teams, this will be a chapter.

It's early August. This last couple of weeks have been miserable to watch. Same problems we've had all year, but we're paying for them now as other teams have hit their stride.

Bloom lost a lot of credibility last week. He was on a newbie pass. Look at that 40-man roster. It looks like a Hoarder created it from a dumpster dive, unwilling to throw pieces out nobody wants a part of.

The 9 run inning that Ted highlighted, is indirectly one thing that could be in a chain of bad decisions which could get Bloom fired.  Could I say.  Firstly Bloom traded a good pitching prospect for Schwarber who still remains on the IL.  Then let go our former 1st round draft choice for a washed up releiver Robles.  Third, either Robles' vendetta or his lack of control, really got the Jays fired up in this game and probably headed to the playoffs.  That was throwing at Grichuck, Robles said he was just wild.  Near bench clearing, but the Jays have now put targets on the Sox backs for the next two months.

Jays are 8-1 since returning to Rogers, and have their crowd fired up.  I am the least bit confident that Bloom has it in him to figure this cluster out.  And management may let him sink or swim on his own.  But Henry will use Cora as the sacrificial lamb and fire him first.

J.D. Martinez Going On COVID-19 IL; No Update On Jarren Duran
Martinez and Duran both are on the COVID-19 related IL now

by Logan Mullen

The Boston Red Sox are adding, not subtracting, to the COVID-19 related inured list.

J.D. Martinez is getting added to the list, Red Sox manager Alex Cora indicated Saturday afternoon ahead of Game 1 of Boston’s double-header against the Toronto Blue Jays. With Martinez out, the Red Sox are calling up catcher Connor Wong.

This comes after Jarren Duran was placed on the COVID IL Friday. Duran has returned multiple negative tests for the coronavirus, and only is displaying symptoms. While the results of Martinez’s tests are unclear, Cora said the slugger has not been feeling well.

Such situations are becoming somewhat commonplace for the Red Sox, as Matt Barnes went through a similar situation just a few days ago. He was added to the COVID-19 IL, had multiple negative tests and was back one day later.

It has been obvious that JDM has not been himself for several days.  One has to wonder if the bug affecting the Red Sox has been viral.  The Red Sox are one of teams who are not fully vaccinated.

If it went viral, it must have infected all five starting pitchers who went out drinking one night.  We have absolutely no steady pitcher right now.  Houck?

I did see an opinion Sox we’re being cautious of a spread, being a top contender this year.

Elk, last night I called my good friend who happens to be a scout with the Rays.  He was adamant is saying that Chaim Bloom was a solid baseball man and the Rays were sorry to see him go.  He made it clear to me that if the Red Sox and their fans need to blame someone for their free fall it goes right to the top,  that miserable cheap bastard Prune Face Henry.  He will swear up and down that  the owner put the clamps on Chaim and tied his hands as is his habit over the years.  I have no reason to doubt my friend since he is one of my closest pals and a guy who coached with me before he chose to go into scouting.  As for Cora, I have made it clear that while this not all his fault, his penchant for playing his favorites like Gonzales and Cordero has been a disaster as well but since I have a low regard for him and have said repeatedly that he never should have been rehired I can only hope that it isn't too long before this rotten cheater is purged from Boston once and for all.   Now let's get ready to lose the second game----which we most certainly will do.

I do not think money had anything to do with Bloom's failure to make upgrades  at the trade deadline.  The Sox simply did not have the prospects to offer.  The prospects that they do have were not as attractive as those offered by others.  Money will come into play after the world series during free agency.  Money had little bearing IMO to what happened during the trade deadline negotiations.  Henry's willingness or unwillingness to spend did not severely affect what Bloom could or could not do.

I'm tired of the line that they didn't have prospects.  Clearly they can field an entire minor league system so they have prospects.  They also have money.  I'm amazed they couldn't basically give away some guy with money for something of value in return.  We got two pretty bad relievers and an injured guy in the only position we may have some modicum of depth.

I appreciate your comments from your friend Fred, Bloom may be solid but he messed up a scale rarely seen in professional sports.

I do not think Bloom messed up at all.  Clearly Boston's minor leaguers did not attract suitors as much as did other teams minor leaguers.  While we can be disappointed, Bloom acted pretty much as I had expected him too.
