One of the writers reported Bogey tweaked his left wrist in his last at bat Friday.  Will sit tonight.  Cora also said Devers and JD will each get a rest day in next couple games. The Sox are on a 16 game stretch with no days off, probably why Houck was activated and two field players deactivated.

Eovaldi showing some control issues tonight. Back-to-back HBP. The rain probably is bothering him.

Oh well, that one run lead wasn't going to last forever.

Three check-swing K's for the Sox tonight. That last one by Vaz hurt with bases loaded.

Sawamura must not like playing in the rain. Gives up back-to-back dingers. The way the Sox offense is tonight, that should be the game. If they stop for rain now, it's all over.

This game is heading south quickly. They should just call it before someone suffers a serious injury.

Yankees pulling out all the stops, attacking the LF, fan reaching over the wall, now this fiasco in this rain.  This game should have been stopped earlier this inning.  Guys clearly cańt pitch in this slop.

The score doesńt count if they call it before the end of an inning.

At least the Rays lost, so status quo there.

This game was a travesty.  There is no excuse for the delayed start or allowing the 6th inning to begin.  The umpires lost all credibility.  MLB has to rethink its approach to games in the rain..

That's that, game called. Just as well, the conditions were horrible.

A good line for Duran.  1 for 2, then drew a walk, one strikeout, scored a run.

This is at least the second time this year that they were forced to play through a horribly sloppy field. Dangerous as hell. It effects outcomes of games.

The Yankees ground crew gave Cole a great mound. Next half inning for Eovaldi? They did fix the mound after the two homers, though. That was nice.

The worst part of it is, is that we have that dip-sh*t 1b umpire behind the plate tonight. This crew as stunk it up the first two games.

Verdugo was getting along with the NY fans in left field last trip to the Bronx, lots of gotcha things, but most all in fun.  Last night a few A-holes were throwing stuff at him, at least one fan ejection.  Things are getting chippy again, as they always do down there.

It's disappointing stuff. The Yankees' broadcasters can say what they want, but their rhetoric a few weeks ago about Boston fans being more obsessed and rabid than Yankees' fans has long reversed. David Cones' personal experience from playing in both places was a long time ago. Their abuse of opposing players even makes it's way to Hollywood movies. (For the Love of the Game..Kostner) Wasn't it Jim Rice who spoke of smelling like beer after any trip to the wall?

Oh, and folks, how about that ridiculous point made by that self absorbed Rosenthal during the broadcasts' many bitching about the Yankees sessions. The Yankees, according to him, are under-performing, because in cannot be due to imbalance because the Blue Jays do well and their imbalanced. WTH???  Um, yeah, OK. Great logic train there. The whole broadcast is just absurd. Period. I am so sick of these Yankees heavy national broadcast teams. Smoltz was even getting in on the act, though to his credit, he did make an attempt to be professional at times. It's going to be far worse tonight.

So to recap - they delayed the game for an hour during which it didn't rain.  Then when the rain got ridiculously bad, they kept playing.  It was clear that the Sox pitchers couldn't pitch in that slop.  Oh yes, and basically anything Cole throws is a strike even if it's a foot off the plate.  Then when the Yankees get the lead, and only then, do the playing conditions become too bad to play in.  An inning earlier and they would have waited out.  So that brings us to around midnight.  Tarp has been on the field, it's stopped raining, so let's call the game and give the win to the Yankees.  Let's reward them for creating an environment that is dangerous for the players from Verdugo getting hit with a ball to the slop they played in.  And all of this after their rep to the All Star Game tests positive, endangering all the AL stars and poor Mrs. Aaron.

I'd think the Sox are going to make a stink about this, not that it will change any outcomes.  This was total BS by the Yankees and the league who apparently heard Smoltz say over and over that the Yankees HAD to win that game.  I just hope they beat the living crap out of them today.

Well I will not have to endure that because I'm not watching any part of the game tonight. First of all, we have  shitty record on Sunday Night Baseball.  Secondly we  have gotten into the  rotten habit of winning the first game of a series and then dropping the next two (Angels and Phillies anyone?). It could repeat itself tonight.  Besides that, it seem like our guys have forgotten how to come back from  a deficit to win a game and with Miserable Martin Perez on the mound tonight we could be looking at a three or four deficit by the fifth inning.  By the way, Houck should be replacing Perez in the rotation if  the lefty can't finally get his shit together and pitch a high quality game.  Tonight would be an ideal time for him tp do  it.  Just wake up the offense and hope they have not decided to take another night off and go through the motions.  See how the Rays came back today against last year's NLCS chokers, the Braves?????  We have to start doing that again  Tonight would be the r ight time to do it .  I just have developed a real lack of confidence in how we've played the past couple of weeks.  The glow of Friday night's shutout of the Yankees is still wearing off.  We need to g o on a run the next two or three series.
