Looks like the "OLD SHAKE up" of the lineup ??? rofl rofl rofl
Beni a little dinged up I guess after fouling a pitch off his leg last night. Travis getting chances due to Pearce on the IL. Bats and pen doing the job but the starters badly suck big time.
Sox on the board quickly. 1-0, one out in the 1st.
Bases loaded thanks to Mariner screw-ups. But two outs now. Can't waste this chance.
Sweet. Nunez drives in two runs. Sox up 3-1.
Nunez plates 2.Looking good so far as it looks like his knees are much better than 2018.
Here comes the bad part so far as the SP has been a disaster. Maybe Porcello can change that.
Is this the first time we're ahead in four games?

They were up 2 runs early in the game Sales pitched, but that didn't last long.
Dammit. Porcello had 2 outs and a batter down 0-2, then blew it. Now it's 3-2, Sox and the inning continues.
Out of it. But that sudden inability to keep the ball out of the dirt cost them two runs.

First three games we led in two innings. The Sale game 1st and the 9th in game we won.
So much for the lead in this game. Another lousy start.

Been watching Sox games over 40 years and can`t remember a start to the season where Sox pitchers have totally looked so terrible.

I think they were all at camp, but did they spend more time on the diamond, or bowling/golf?

Sale, Eovoldi, E Rod and now Porcello, no.one believes that all four of these guys are going to be as bad as they looked thus far this year. At the risk of beating a dead horse, the common thread is that Cora deliberately did not work these guys in ST. I ask myself why did these guys bother to show up at Jet Blue at all. I know everyone considers Cora to be infallible after last year but so far this year I am not impressed. Like I said before he wasted ST with respect to the starters.
Pitiful performance.

Cora thought they worked so hard on October he literally gave them most of ST off. None these guys have had more then 10 innings of work
before opening the season.

Blame Cora for not getting these guys ready.

34 runs and counting in 4 games. That is so sad.
Because of errors, Porcello got out of this disaster with only 4 earned runs against him.
Mookie with a dinger. Now 10-7 Seattle.
Can't blame the BP on this one. So far they're given up just one run.
WHAT the heck is happening with our STARTING PITCHERS???????
CRAP!
AND so far, the bullpen has not been the problem.
Red Sox starters: 15 innings, 13.20 ERA; Red Sox bullpen: 18 innings, 2.50 ERA
Seattle is doing their best to give this one away. Bases loaded, one out. Sounds like the usual time for the Sox to GIDP.
Now 10-8. Walked in run.
Vaz misses three times. That last one was several feet off the plate. At least he didn't GIDP.
Close but no cigar. Sox lose 10-8. Again, this is all on the starters.
Sox with 24 runs in this series, which would normally sound pretty good. But it's 10 runs less than they gave up, so... iono

What has happened to the starters is that they had virtually no spring training compared to the relievers who had a more typical ST workload. What we saw in Seattle is exactly what I thought was going to happen. Cora has to own up to the fact that his approach led to this result. Now he will undoubtedly argue that by starting the starters so slowly will allow them to perform better later in the year. We'll see.
FRUSTRATING to score 8 runs and LOSE.

Maybe so Elk but it could also be the building blocks for a catastrophic 2019 season where things never get better. If this keeps up I expect Cora to acknowledge that his method in ST was flawed and not make any damn excuses to the contrary. This is not the way we needed to open the season and for those who want to tell me the Yankees and Astros didn't do so hot either.....SAVE IT. I don't give a hoot in hell about them; all I'm concerned with is the Red Sox and we need to get or shit together real quick.
YIKES!
Last year our Sox started off the baseball season 17 - 2
and went on to win the World Series (as we all know!)
THIS year is starting off really bad . . .
A SAD START …….. As DAD would say, "SON, this TEAM can't stand prosperity" !!!!! iono iono iono iono rofl rofl rofl

And it's even worse as a lot more runs were unearned but still the result of bad pitching.
On the bright side, the starting rotation has never had a better golf game. I'm guessing they go out and play after some chicken and beer in the 4th inning when they're out of the game.

Clearly we all expect better things the next time through the rotation. As I've said, it doesn't help to be playing two teams who came to camp early and started their season earlier than anyone else. But I agree that there has to be some adjustment. Cora keeps saying it was the same program they used last year. Well clearly not.
The good news is that the Astros and Yankees are also struggling. The Yanks dropped 2 to Baltimore in NY.
