BOSTON:
CHRIS SALE, LHP, 12-4, 1.92 ERA, 222K
The ace will continue his series of "openers" in his return from the disabled list. In his
third start back, Sale should throw roughly 65 pitches. He fired three shutout innings against
the Mets last time out.
CLEVELAND:
TREVOR BAUER, RHP, 12-6, 2.22 ERA, 2.14K
Bauer, (sidelined since August 11 due to a stress fracture in his right fibula) will come

Well, now we know what Cora is thinking. No Mookie, no Xander, no JBJ, no Benintendi. There's some offense there, but not the best defense. Maybe with Sale they won't need it.
I'm fine with lots of guys with a day off today as they did wrap it up last night. Mookie is a bit banged up and JBJ and Bogey never seem to get any rest. Still I would have stuck with Beni and JBJ in today and then give them tomorrow off. I think it's fine to rest 2 guys at a time but not everyone.
OK with the lineup …… As DAD would say, "SON, they earned it" !! thumb_u
Our 1st game of the playoffs isn't for 14 days. (October 5th) That's 2 weeks from today. I think the players can have some time off. Might give a couple players a chance to show they should be considered for the post season roster.
Travis goes yard. His first ever!
Sam Travis. Where have ya been, my man?
Donaldson owns Sale. Weird how one player can do so well against a given pitcher.
Way to go, Hembree. :o thumb_d
3 GIDPs and counting. They must be trying to set another record.
Raffy with a solo dinger. 4-2.
Second great play by Holt tonight.
Nice to see some offense. Sox up 5-4.

Second great play by Holt tonight.
Holt looks very comfortable at SS.
Great night for Travis!
Let’s hope they can add some more runs and bring this home.

Great night for Travis!
Well, it was. Until that rookie play. Is he new to the outfield?
Bad luck for Pomeranz. Should of been out of the inning. Travis got to the ball and whiffed on it. 6-5 now.

Hard to believe the wind could hold up the ball that much. Travis went back and then had to run probably 60 - 70 feet in if not more and just whiffed it. I'm guessing he won't be on the playoff roster as an extra outfielder. LOL.
Game will go south here.
Or not.
Raffy with error #2,473. Or is it 2,474?

Devers making a push to be off the playoff roster.
NESN hired Manny Del Car wreck? Maybe he works cheap.
Velazquez is ineffective again.
Robby Scott in to make Velazquez look good.
Wow, Scott got through the inning with no damage and then Lin goes deep. Sox are playing under a lucky star tonight.
Geez, 4 GIDPs tonight. And it appears my MLB.TV is about 5 minutes behind real time.
Win #105. Amazing.
Barnes with the win. Kimbrel with the save. Travis & Lin with their 1st career HR's. Scott looked great. Pomerantz would of had a scoreless inning if Travis was a outfielder. Devers with a HR and an error. #23. Win number 105 is in the book. The magic number is now 1. On to Saturday we go.
Candidate for most unexpected W of the season. I'll take it.

You could have knocked me off with a feather when I saw that lineup tonight compared to the one the Indians trotted out but of those guys really stood up and made a game of it after we fell behind. I hate all those DP's we seem to hit into and the one Travis hit into in the fourth really chapped me, but face it, the guys came back and beat the better team on the field tonight. We won a game we most likely shouldn't have been able to win. And they hit the ball well, well, most of our guys. Good game to win since it most likely wasn't expected. Even the bullpen did a decent job tonight, and we will need good relief help when playoff time comes.

Thinking the same thing.... The first thing in the playoffs starts with the GLOVE !! iono iono
#105, as DAD would say, "SON, how about our RED SOX" !!! 105, the last time that happened was when the TITANIC was HUNTING ICEBERGS !!!!! thumb_u iono rofl rofl rofl
Travis has had some good plays and some pretty bad ones! But the wind had been blowing pretty good out there, you could see it all game long.
Nice job by a lot of our second stringers. I wonder when the last time two guys got their first HRs in the same game happened? In fact Martinez couldn't hit (but walked twice) while almost everyone else did (other than Leon, because Leon sucks incredibly badly at the plate). Sox used 9 pitchers too which gave it more of a spring training feel, but that was Cleveland's A team. We have to remember that we are 20 games ahead of Cleveland in the standing.
Sale didn't look sharp, but he was effective. That's another good sign.
