Thanks for small favors.  Sox salvage a win to keep third place.  Good pitching from Priester.  The jury is out whether he was worth giving away Nick Yorke.

I was trying to find our preseason predictions, but I think we were all at a lower win total, mid to high 70s.  So a "success"?  Not being serious of course, but this was a better team than they had last year in a lot of ways, just once again built as if nobody would ever get injured.  John Henry will have to show me the money for me to believe in much more.

I was a big fan of Yorke and looked for him to be our long term second baseman, and I have great doubts about Priester's ability.  I hope I am wrong because the front office seems to think this guy just might be an ace type pitcher for us.  Seeing some of the moves those guys have made the past few years don't give me much optimism for their ability to differ between the wheat and the chaff.  Again, I hope they hit paydirt this time.

Fred, I'm thinking MGT thought Yorke was expendable with Mayer coming up to play SS and moving Story to 2B.  That idea may have gotten blown up with Mayer's injury bug last two seasons, curtailing his development.

They may have gotten a back-door prize in Kristian Campbell's rise at AA.  Voted Sox offensive minor leaguer of the year.  That kid has value from many of the bloggers, and they're plugging him in at 2B - he can also play OF.  I hope that kid shows out in spring training, but he is due for a dose of reality at Ft. Myers.

Do we wait until the World Series ends before we get into the Hot Stove League season or will everybody on board keep the Red Sox in the news so we can ascertain just what the gang here is thinking......and, yes, the front office needs to do so this off season we really go get "ALL IN"???????
