It seems that most of the pictures in the news are with the Sox uniform.  He had quite a stretch and of course was and still is a fan favorite.  RIP El Tiante!

QuoteLuis started three games for the RedSox in the '75 World Series, with two complete games and 25.0 innings pitched.

Those were the days.

Luis Tiant, the charismatic Cuban with a horseshoe mustache and mesmerizing windup who pitched the Boston Red Sox to the brink of a World Series championship and himself to the doorstep of the Hall of Fame, has died. He was 83.

Major League Baseball announced his death in a post on X on Tuesday, and the Red Sox confirmed that he died at his home in Maine.

"Today is a very sad day," Fred Lynn, a teammate in both Boston and California, posted on X. "A Big game pitcher, a funny genuine guy who loved his family and baseball. I miss him already."

I've been quietly pulling for the Phillies since Dombrowski took over. To me, it serves as a reminder of how wrong the Red Sox Leadership got it. I hope this whole Dombrowski scene haunts the Red Sox Ownership and Management groups in their dreams.

Agreed. I was surprised, but I'm glad he feels fit enough to return to baseball.

I was surprised to hear this today, Tito, who I thought had stepped aside due to health reasons, has decided to jump back in and manage the Reds.  Best of luck to him.

2024 Post-Season Games / Let's Go Mets
Last post by longgame - October 04, 2024, 10:20:14 AM
When I was a kid our town would get a bus to go to Red Sox, Yankees and Mets games. None of the Sox fans went to the Yankee games and none of the Yankee fans would go to Fenway, but everybody went to the Mets games.  Of course my "fandom" took a hit in 86.  But I was happy top see them win last night.

These Wild Card Series have been great.  I'm looking forward to the rest.

Do we wait until the World Series ends before we get into the Hot Stove League season or will everybody on board keep the Red Sox in the news so we can ascertain just what the gang here is thinking......and, yes, the front office needs to do so this off season we really go get "ALL IN"???????

The AL Central for once is for real.  The Guardians have been solid all year.  The Tigers are red hot.

Also, the Padres knocked off Atlanta to go on to face the Dodgers. That could be interesting.

The Mets-Brewers the only one going to 3 games.

Wow, the Orioles had such a great season and then crapped out in two games, scoring just one run in those two games. Their fans must be livid.
