J B J ?????????? WOW ??????????? iono iono iono
Figure with Leon in and facing a lefty he’s got to sit
Sale unreal through 4. 8 Ks no hits.Bombs by JF Chavis and Devers
Devers is just a hitting machine. A glove man, uh no.
Hid glove has been damn good the last 2 weeks or so.No Es in case you have missed it.
This game suddenly looks different.
Great outing for Sale. 17 K's, no walks. Just that one mistake. Very close game now, though. Need more runs.
Sale is one of three Sox pitchers with 15 or more Ks in a game. Pedro 10, Clemens 6, Sale 2.
Great time for Workman to come back to earth. Oy.
Damn.Blackma
n 2 run hr.Workman had pitched so good of late.
What a great performance by Sale, let's hope they can redeem it.
Tied up. Unlucky shot by Nunez ends the inning with a DP.
JBJ pinch hitting for Leon. You can't make this stuff up.
JBJ gets a gift call for a walk that should have been a K.
Beni with his 4th K of the night.
Dammit, Chavis.
Argh. Brasier walks the leadoff hitter for the only walk of the night.
Brasier with another walk. WTF? Can this guy not handle pressure?
Gaahhh! Braiser blows it. Rocks up 5-4 thanks to his two walks.
Oh well. Tough loss. Couple of bad pitches and Braiser with a lousy appearance. Couple that with some 0-fers for Beni and Mookie and well...you have a loss.
DAMN - the game had so much promise with early runs by the Sox
and brilliance from Sale through 6 innings . . .
Sox lose in the 11th inning
5 - 4
One run over 8 innings was a killer. Then turning Sale's hard work over to Workman and Brasier did the deed. The team is on a good streak, but there are holes in the lineup/pitching that a GM needs to address before NYY and Astros come calling.
That will happen only with call ups and we all should know that there is little help down there.
Tough loss. I think sometimes it's easy to put a couple of early runs up, get lulled by Sale's performance and kind of coast along. If E-Rod were pitching they'd have scored 4 more runs.
I remain very worried about this bullpen, especially Brasier and while Workman hadn't given up any hits in a while, he still walks a lot. They need to find a way to be able to be comfortable with a lead and 2 or 3 innings left and they're just not their yet.
Workman completely dominant in his last 11 hitless appearances couldn`t get the damn job done . Eck commented that the Sox could have used a lefty in that situation. Only lefty at AAA is Poyner who can`t even be effective down there.
Darwinzon Hernandez who many thought would be on the roster has a ton of work to be done even for a September call-up. His command is pitiful as his 19 bb in only 19.1 innings show. The other big hopeful Feltman is equally bad.

Looking at the FAs DD signed this year that now reside in AAA, there is very little value from that group. Tapia 5.06 era, 23 hits in 16 ip. Mejica 7.45, 12 in 9. Erasmo Ramirez 27h in 22, 12 bb. Putnam, Carson Smith, Maddox on the IL.
The FAs who are sticking at Boston are Brewer and Webber.
Frankly I thought we were as flat as a pancake last night. Looked to me like we were trying to mail in a win after we got the three runs and forgot that Cora will not let Sale go more than seven innings and that our bullpen is very shaky. We had chances and even breaks to win the game and didn't and no matter what happens tonight this two game series is a total failure. We needed to win both with the Astros coming in for three, a real red hot team. Cruel to say it but we could be back to 500 or under by Sunday evening. We will have to win tonight and take two of three from the Stros, otherwise we're almost back where we started.
For the God's sale Cora, will you please put Betts back at leadoff and Benintendi at second. Stop trying to be the smartest man in the room because your act is starting to wear on some of us. We won a title with Betts batting first and Benny second last year. You should have left well enough alone.
Fred Cora won't admit his mistake as to Beni and Betts position in the batting order just like he can't admit he screwed up spring training. One of the reasons for the loss last night is that everyone is trying to hit home runs on every at bat.

Elk---you're right on that my friend. Did you notice that when Bradley got that gift walk in the eighth or ninth inning Eckersley was saying that it would be a good time for Jack to go because when he tries to steal he has been successful. The pitcher was slow to the plate but Cora had Jack glued to first base and we never mounted anything that might have caused the o ther team to make a mistake that could turn the game to us-----and the fact is, Colorado is a mistake prone team, always has been. No, instead w e were swinging from our asses and wound up losing a game we should have won. We stole last year, we took the extra base last year, we were an open team with offensive opportunities from many quarters but I saw Cora with that stupid look on his face in the dugout and my reaction was...wHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR.
You would understand Elk since you're an old coach as I am-----and we do think that sometimes we come up with better ideas than those guys hauling down millions to run the team. Hated to lose that game on Tuesday.
