JBJ is floundering badly. I wish he and Chili Davis would figure out why he forgets how to hit sometimes.

Arrieta imploding in the 1st was a major gift.  He's settled in now.  It's PomPom who's the problem now....

You're right. The dufus, like all pitchers, can't throw accurately to 1st base once they step off the mound.

Bases juiced. 0 out.  C'mon.  Runs please.

Benintendi K's. Now comes the GIDP to end the threat.

Well, not a GIDP, but a DP nonetheless. Regular as clockwork.

Another inning ending DP. This team loves them.

Wow, Cubs announcers gave Toast of the Game to Pom-pom. I guess he didn't do too bad with just 2 runs.

Kimbrel fans 1st  2. Zobrist a double then another K to close it out.

markj

Kimbrel done good. And a W is a W. But there's not a lot to be happy about here. Arrietta basically melted down in the 1st and the Sox scored 5. And that was it for the rest of the game despite numerous chances, including a bases-loaded, no-outs situation. This offense still sucks and they were damn lucky to come away with a W tonight.

Pomeranz hung in there and kept the Cubbies off balance and goes his usual 6 innings.

Yep, no major complaints about Pomeranz *except* that he always leaves at least a third of the game to the bullpen.
