Happy Anniversary to you and Linda, Fred.

What a day markj.  Thank you for that post; it means a lot to me.  What a game baseball is, huh?  I mean last night we had a "stiff" pitching for us and what happens?  He pitches a gem and we win.   Today we have our ace and arguably the best pitcher in the league and what happens?  He gets ripped through and through, but so does the Cleveland starter Carrasco and his 10-4 record.  Yes, I missed just about the whole game except for, GUESS WHAT?  The last batter which happened to be Christian Vaszuez.  Is that weird or not?  And I'm saying down by two well the day can't be perfect and what happens??? HE HITS A THREE RUN BOMB AND WE WIN 12-10.  What a day this was.  Man I cannot believe it.  You guys must have had a field day watching all those hits and runs, though I would think looking at the box score that there was a lot of nervous stomachs throughout.  Well it turned out to be a great day for Linda and me.  47th Anniversary and the Red Sox win dramatically, the Yankees lost and the Cubs are killing their opponents.  I'm not going to get too high but is it possible we are starting to hit like we're supposed to?  Nunez and Devers sure are adding strength to the lineup and right at this moment it looks like we made some good pickups like other teams did---Devers and Nunez.  Can we just keep this up.....PUHLEEEZE???

Happy Anniversary Fred!
Glad the Sox gave you a win tonight!

Watching the game on MLB TV channel (Can't take any more of the Gomes O'Brien Combo)  But Jim Kaat and Bob Costas just ripped David Price as did Tom Verducci.  Apparently RedSox put Eckersley exploits on the Jumbo Tron at Fenway during the half inning with Eck in the club house suite.  Eck got a huge ovation.  Price had retreated into the clubhouse before the Eck tribute went on the scoreboard.  Once again Price ridiculed by national media over this kerfuffle.

I wish we could put this one to bed Elk.  We have gone up against the second hottest team in the game (the damn Dodgers) and have come off with two good victories, one very dramatic tonight. Is it possible the team just might be now coming together?  I'm still not sure but it looks better than it did a few days ago and with that we don't need any contretemps going on that might impact the team.  If I can now get behind Bogaerts even though he is still struggling we all need to get behind Davis Price, hope he gets his arm and elbow ready to help us going on because I really believe we will need him.

Should be Reed then Kimbrel coming up. Nice job Barnes.

Now please Schloik, use your influence to tell Farrell NOT to use Barnes two days in a row.  He doesn't have to now with a deeper bullpen.  As I said earlier I only saw one at-bat tonight but it was a doozy, but what your take on Addison Reed?  I saw him with the Mets on TV a few times and he looked like had a lot of moxie out there on the mound.  Possible he could be an alternate closer for Kimbrel when one is needed and Craig has worked two games in a row?

Happy Anniversary, Fred. This game's for you.

Thanks Mark, it was a helluva anniversary present, but this win was for all of us because we're all in this together.  I will remember this for the rest of my days, though.  Of course, it can never be No. 1.  That came on my 64th Birthday on October 27, 2004 and I know you and the rest of my friends he remember what happened that night.

Wow what a game!  Don't you just love baseball!  The pitching disappears, the bats come out of nowhere!

Best game of the year.

I'll tell you this Ted----predicting how a game will turn out is a witches brew.  Just look at the last two nights for proof on that.  Who really knew?????

I can't find anything anywhere. Is AB benched, or is he just getting a mini-break like he did Bradley?

Playing the hot guy in Holt. As long as Holt is doing well play him.

Right Schloik---but with Bradley cold again it may be time for him to take a couple of days off, and what is the matter with Hanley?  When is he going to catch fire....or is he?

Hanley tried to catch fire tonight but was robbed of a HR by a great catch by Austin Jackson.  Might be the best catch I've seen this year. Hanley has had a rough post All-Star time. Hopefully he can break out of it soon. JBJ might need a little break so throw Beni out in center for a couple games to see if he breaks out.

Well we won a big one tonite.....it was so exciting.
I thought of Fred and what he was missing and how excited he would be.
But then to find out he saw the last homer, wow, Fred the stars were
shining for you tonite.
Happy Anniversary Fred, the Red Sox gave you a gift like none other.

Now that was different. Lots of offense and no pitching.I like the lineup the way it is.Holt looks good in the 2 slot.

Something happened in out half of the 1st that made me think that this was going to be one of those games.

Mookie was talking about forgetting how to relax and have fun with the game. We've been skawking about that for over a year. It should not take a year and a player to figure that out. This should have been prioritized and fixed a long time ago.

Vazquez's HR last night was different from his slump causing previous shot. He went up the middle. He stayed with his swing that has got him going again.

Anyone else noticing how many crooked numbered innings Devers has started when leading off? I know, small sample size. Points out nothing but what a bolt of energy does and how success using ones mechanics is part of the hitting becoming contagious thing.

I know we all have said it all along, but the line up needs to be long. Top to bottom. Never ending. No matter who is in there. 6th thru 9th. That is the only way this version of the sox win. I hope they all do not take on the constant HR swing thing again. They cannot live in the power zone. I hope this style continues. We fail if it does not. That simple.

JB looking very long in his swing again. Perhaps (whoever said it) was right - he's the next one for a spell.

Still thinking about this game and then I think who's pitching tonite;
oh no, please let's not lose this little advantage....
If we can just get started and be consistent... sigh

Speaking of throwing HR balls, how about that HR Edwin Encarcion hit last night? I don't recall eeing  pop up like that going so far back as to scrape the back signage on the way down like that. That wasn't even a moon shot. That was a 9-iron. Scary stuff.

But yes, tonight and .... maybe Tito will give Edwin the night off.   rofl   Boy, I kill me sometimes.

longgame

Still amazed at this game.  For once it was so enjoyable and I just had a feeling like they'd come back for some strange reason.

Weird stat they mentioned last night - Kimbrel has blown 4 saves, all on lead off HRs.

The Jackson catch was amazing.  I thought you had to land in fair ground but apparently not.  If there were runners, they would have been allowed one base.  I would think you'd allow them as many as they can get.

Both teams had their starters and two top relievers give up runs.  Amazing that they got to Miller and then to the closer.  Poor Reed had a rough start as a Sox but talk about a pickup.

elktonnick

The only thing I would say about Reed's bad start is all the best pitchers on both teams had a bad day last night.  Sandy Koufax. Bob Feller, Warren Spahn and Cy Young would have a bad time last night.  It was that bizarre a ball game.  The only thing missing was an unassisted triple play.
