Price aims to keep dealing vs. Ramirez, Halos
Kaelen Jones
The Red Sox will send veteran left-hander David Price to the mound to face the Angels opposite right-hander JC Ramirez on Saturday night at Angel Stadium.
The matchup will mark the second time Price and Ramirez have opposed each other this season after both started a June 24 tilt at Fenway Park.
Ramirez (8-8, 4.54 ERA) outdueled Price in the first meeting, earning a win following six innings of one-run ball. Meanwhile, Price (5-2, 3.39) relinquished three runs (two earned) over six innings en route to picking up just his second loss of the season.
In fact, the defeat to the Halos marked the last time Price was charged with a loss. During his latest outing against the Yankees on Sunday, he tossed a season-high eight scoreless innings while fanning eight batters.
Ramirez was not as successful in his first outing of the second half. He allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk in a losing effort against the Rays. He'll seek to earn his second home victory of the season, as he's posted a 1-5 home record in nine starts this year.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GAME
• Angels star center fielder Mike Trout owns a .158 career batting average (3-for-19, three walks) in 22 plate appearances against Price, striking out nine times.
• Price has given up two earned runs across 20 innings (0.90 ERA) over his last three starts. He's posted a 2-0 record and recorded 22 strikeouts against four walks during that span.
• In five career appearances (one start) against the Red Sox, Ramirez is 1-0 and has posted a 0.90 ERA across 10 innings.

That's great !! Game 99 means that we have to make up for the defeats of April, May & June !! Go Price & SOX too !! thumb_u rofl
My wife (pet nicknamed Battle Axe) and I had this conversation about the west coast games and falling asleep last night. Taken out of context
Battle Axe: "Funny thing about those late games, they always seem to do what they were going to do no matter if we miss it or not."
Mongo: "Oh, sweetie, that's not entirely true."
Battle Axe: <after a pause and a laugh> "duh! I forgot about that part." :)
Of course, my Southern Belle of 30 years is like the ultimate Mongo dream wife. After 2 long games this past weekend, the 1st Sunday Yankees' game was nearing 1st pitch, she asks, "Mind if I turn on the game?" . Why of course not, dear. :) After is was over, she then suggested, um, let's just say the subject matter of the 70's hit by the Starland Vocal band. sigh Oh woe is me. We remerge from a period of meditation and internal reflection in time for her to ask, "mind if we watch the second game during dinner?" My only reply, "if you or anyone ever wonders why I still call you my dream girl after 30 years ....." thumb_u thumb_u
(all apologies for any possible TMI moments on my story, but I just had to share with someone.)

[/b] B I N G O dat !!!
Price is looking weak here. 3-0 lead quickly becomes 3-2.
And just like that the Sox are down 4-3.
Missed DP chance when Pedroia fell and letting Trout walk after having him 1-2 in the count hurt big time that inning. 4-3 Sox after 3 innings.
This ump sux. Two low and outside strike calls against Moreland.
Xander blows another one.
Gawd, this ump of full of shit. He K'd Moreland on pitches that were far worse than the 3 balls he just called against Price. He's giving Price nothing unless it's way over the plate. :losers thumb_d
Out of that inning with no further damage, despite the lopsided pitch calling.
Ump rings up Benintendi on a pitch that he called a ball 3 times against Price.
Farrell finally has enough of this BS umpire.
This game could go south in a hurry here.
Fred's right, Xander needs to ride the bench for a while. His mind is just not in the game. That should have been a double play and instead it resulted in a run scored and no outs.
Not going our way, this one. 3-6. Price has gotten off his rhythm, too.
JBJ K's looking at a decent pitch. This ump is calling strikes on balls off the plate, so you can't afford to stand there when one actually crosses the plate.
Hembree adds to the mess. 7-3. Sox ain't coming back in this one.
So much for the 2 game winning streak.... :P
TB lost and the Yankees are tied in the 7th, so the Sox might slip out of this without losing ground.
Taylor reminds me of Catfish Hunter.
Hanley pulls a GIDP. Nothing is going right in this game.
Crappy game. Price was lousy, offense gave up after the first few innings, and the BP gave up two, not that it mattered.
Xander needs to get his head out of his ass, though. Two poor plays on the field cost them tonight.

That sums it up, mark...
I hope this is not the re-emergence of the early 2016 David Price. Bogaerts is indeed in his head. Needs to sit. And our offense again valiantly fights to get 6 hits and gets exhausted by the 2nd inning.
Just another one of our "specialties"...can't win two consecutive games.....evah!
And don't expect much better on Sunday's game. slap, iono, sigh
I'm guessing DD is quietly looking at SS options too as the deadline approaches.

A messy game for sure... Bogey looked like a tired old vet.... If the right deal shows, I would trade him in a heart beat !! This win one, loose one is so week, thank goodness the Yank$ & Rays lost too !! iono slap rofl
They aren't t going to deal Bogie but they could move him to 3rd if they were to pick up Cozarts.

Interesting ?? Who is this Cozarts guy ??? ( I am such a homer) Bogey looks like he is hurt ???
Cozarts is the as for the Reds.
Playing a team like the Angels is bitter sweet. They do not have our pitching, but their lineup is loaded with big hitters like Pujhols, Trout, Simmons, Calhoun. As noted Sox have to experience hernias to get five runs.
Bogaerts is nursing bruised wrist.

Bogaerts is nursing bruised wrist.
Must be more than that as he has had it for about 3 weeks now..... D L or get him out of there till he is 100% + again !! Those errors yesterday were killers !!
Let Marrero take over for a few games.

Cozarts is one possibility. Eduardo Nunez from SF is another we're hearing rumblings about.
One thing we do know is that DD is a "win now" guy. I for one am not going to be surprised if he moves X.
This has gone beyond a SS/3B problem. We NEED sluggers. Period. The lack of HRs is costing them games - a MAJOR reason why a team will wildly fluctuate in runs and have droughts of scoreless innings (17?). We are at the bottom of the league.

At this rate, I look forward to F O O T B A L L rofl
The domino effect of a 3-4 hitter would be massive. Bitch all we want, but the sox really gotta screw a game up to lose 6-3. I mean wheels falling off kind of bad. We are missing a massively important element and we are still 10-14 games above 500. just think about how good this team could be. That's why the right player at the right position matters.
If we can do this without losing weapons on defense and somehow keep pitching in check... Big ifs, though.

Sorry Elk but if this team is to make any kind of move Bogaerts must be either taken out of the lineup or traded before his trade value disappears like a fart in the wind. He is coming apart at the seams, and we must all know now that he is soft, not tough and is becoming a gutless minus in our lineup and on the field. I just cannot stand this guy any longer.
