Major League Baseball's competition committee has voted to implement a pitch clock and ban defensive shifts starting in 2023, sources tell ESPN.
It is official: 15-second clock with bases empty, 20 with runners on; and two fielders on each side of 2B bag, both feet on the dirt.
I saw bigger bases too.
No shift might actually help the Sox since they consistently hit into the shift and can't seem to do it right on defense.

That's very true Mark! Should be interesting to see if it has much impact. The pitch clock will be nice. I've been to AAA games and it was a non-factor and all the younger guys are used to it. I wonder if they'll just do warnings the first year, or maybe you don't get a ball assessed until you've done it more than once or something.
The pitch clock may actually help pitchers pitch better. Get the ball, throw the ball. Less time to get nervous and worry.
