Sabathia was moved up to start for the first game on Sunday's twin bill after
Saturday's 16-inning affair.  Sabathia will be making his second start since returning
from a left hamstring strain.  He lasted just 2 2/3 innings on July 4 against Toronto.

BOSTON:

RICK PORCELLO, RHP, 4-11, 4.75 ERA, 109K

The sinkerballer has some momentum going into the second half.  He pitched his
best game of the season on the Saturday before the All-Star break, allowing six hits and
one run over eight innings in a complete-game, 1-0 loss at Tropicana Field.

Yankees, Red Sox wrap series with twin bill

A rainout three months ago has set the stage for a marathon of baseball between the Yankees and Red Sox on Sunday.

The rivals will finish up their weekend series at Fenway Park with a day-night doubleheader that has heavy implications for an ever-tightening American League East race.

Rick Porcello (4-11, 4.75 ERA) will start the 1:05 p.m. ET game for Boston. The righty is coming off his best performance of the season, allowing one run in his eighth career complete game. But the eight innings in St. Petersburg weren't enough, as he took the 1-0 loss to the Rays.

Left-hander CC Sabathia (7-3, 3.81 ERA) will take the mound on short notice after the Yankees and Red Sox played 16 innings on Saturday. Sabathia is coming off his shortest start of the season, going 2 2/3 innings and allowing four earned runs in a loss to the Brewers on July 4. He is 14-13 in his career against the Red Sox, and 5-5 when pitching at Fenway Park.

Red Sox lefty David Price (4-2, 3.91 ERA) will be given the ball in the night game, scheduled for 8:05 p.m. Price found himself on somewhat of a roll before the All-Star break, allowing two earned runs over his last 15 innings while putting together four straight quality starts.

After a rocky first half, Masahiro Tanaka will look to rebound with a successful opening start to the second half. Tanaka put together a torrid streak of six straight losses before entering the break with two wins in three starts.

Red Sox manager John Farrell says that Brock Holt could potentially be available for the second game on Sunday. Holt has been battling with vertigo and has been on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Pawtucket.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GAME

• A return to Fenway Park could be the best thing for a struggling Tanaka. He produced his best start of the year in his last visit to Boston, allowing three hits in a shutout performance on April 27.

• Price is more familiar with the Yankees than he is with any other Major League squad. The lefty has faced the Bronx Bombers a career-high 37 times, going 14-11. As a member of the Red Sox, though, Price is 1-4 with an 8.42 ERA in six appearances against the Yanks.

• Jacoby Ellsbury has continually gotten the better of Porcello when the two do battle. The center fielder is 12-for-34 against Porcello with four home runs in his career.

Well we aren't going top get them.  If Porcello cannot pitch a shutout today the first game is as good as lost right now.  First of all we're facing CC which mean dumb ass Farrell will bench Benintendi, who got three hits yesterday in order to put in Chris Young who has turned out to be a worthless piece of shit.  Perhaps a total collapse is what is needed to make Prune Face and DD understand that the players they think are going to take us to the promiseland over the next few seasons aren't worth a wad of dog shit.

Charlie Cheeseburger has the edge over Porcello.  I just can't be optimistic about this doubleheader. 

Sale is the only guy on this team consistent enough to rely on. 

This team is something different day-to-day.  I hope for the best but don't expect it....

Young rolled over on the ball hitting a weak grounder.  Why can't these guys hit situationally.  Young should have been trying to lift the ball. It is mind numbing watching these guys at the plate.

That was brutal to watch.  Young just shouldn't be playing at all if a veteran like him can't hit the ball in the air in that situation.  I'm tired of seeing the wrong approach to at bats from many on this team.
