Sea Dog 23

Now on paper, that looks like a good pitching matchup for us.  Lynn having an off-year at 4-7, 6.51 ERA, 1.51 WHIP

Hopefully he's worn out from that 16K, 7-inning beat down of the Mariners last weekend that OB mentioned a few times.

Wong has now struck out in his last 8 trips to the plate.  He's probably tired since we only have one good catcher.  C.Hamilton might get a start this weekend.

Glad to see him get a hit.

I hope the knee thing for Paxton isn't too bad. They're falling like flies.

Bases loaded and Duvall looks at two strikes before swinging and missing on a third. Smart.

This is the kind of loss that sets them up to lose again tomorrow.  Winchowski decided to throw BP, Sox threaten but come short and Jansen can’t keep them in it.

There are some pitching nuances that came out of this game.  The not expected tweak of Paxton's arm came at a crucial time in this game.  They had to pull him and bring in Winchowski an inning early.  Now Winch is on pace to arrive in the overused category -- on pace for 92 IP.  Whitlock was in that category last year and had to be shut down in late August.

But Sox pitchers still had chances to pull out a save, yet the baseball gods implored Casas not to make a play on that ball, eventually resulting in the run for the ChiSox.

A late set of what ifs and missed plays. We didn't have Wong in there for the 9th, which may have cost a SB. Casas not making a play cost us the last out. Their last pitcher threw two great pitches to Duvall.

Winckoswki coughed up two leads, though. That was the tough one. He's not had a great 30-40 days. He might have gotten the over-use bug as Sea Dog suggested. They've given him two 4-game and two 6-game rests since May 19th. Perhaps he's trying to recover from that?

Paxton said to have sore knee and both him and Cora confident that he will make next start with the help of a couple extra days of rest.
