The topic was the first news link on the MLB Red Sox site. No pressure.

So, you're a 20 year old kid starting the year in A+ ball. The franchise got rid of one of it's most beloved ball players of all time all the while making it no secret to anyone that they are building a ball club around you. Time for a Matrix movie quote. "What a mind-job! So you are here to save the world, what do you say to something like that?"

I wonder if he'll be up to a nickname of "Neo"?

Some of the writers are going ga-ga today about the Sox chances to deal for Ohtani in FA.  No doubt a few writers that were not sold on Bloom a couple months ago.

If he is not ruined by the shitty coaches in the Red Sox farm system he should be the focal point for the eventual rebuilding of a Red Sox team that can challenge for a title later in the decade  We have a few other position players who shape up as future Red Sox stalwarts but the pitching is almost non-existent and one reason is the crappy way we fail to develop p[itching because of the ineptitude of the coaches down on the farm.  The last solid pitcher developed by the Red Sox was Jon Lester back in 2006.   That is a lousy record and criminal in the pathetic coaching that goes down in the minors.  We need a complete housecleaning down there and not to mention what everyone already knows......that the leadership at the big league level is for the birds as well.

That's a whole other fun topic. The only way I would trade for him in our current reality is with a trade & sign. He will cost a ton of money, and will cost us one of our best starters and sluggers each time he gets injured. I don't have the cojones for that one, I'm afraid.

Yup! That's one valid risk - he gets ruined with questionable development strategy.

You might not have been a Sox fan yet, but the buzz around Nomar Garciaparra coming up the ranks was at least as loud as this. He was spent and burned out within 5 years. You might remember the end. He was sulking on the bench unwilling to play due to nagging aches and pains while Jeter was diving 2 rows into the stands for foul balls in our own ballpark.

Another fun topic about his surrounding cast. The rosie-bloom version is easy enough. The questions are tougher. Will they be in their best position when they get here? Will they have had enough reps at their positions to play solidly every day? They willWill they look fundamentally unsound because of the flexibility is king nonsense?

What the Bloomer-Bunch failed to realize is coming to fruition right now. Just because a guy can play a little bit of a position does not mean he should. It's not all just coaches not teaching fundamentals in the minors. Players need reps.

We might be dumb-lucking our way into a couple of pitching prospects working out. Question is, will Cora, the press, management and the fans have the patience they need?

Well said! Excellent post.  Couldn't agree more.
