Looks like RR is using the "opener" strategy with Osich.  That's assuming MLB lets other games get played today.

This next round of series will be important for the season.  If this problem with the Marlins happened after the first series of the year there would have been concern for the teams they played before, the umpiring crews, ballpark staff, etc.  so there would have been more games cancelled.  They need to get through these second set of series cleanly.

SOX getting crushed by the METS.
7 - 0 in the middle of the 4th inning.
YIKES.
All runs scored by the homers.
2 2 run home run
1 3 run homer

SOX have no pitchers except Eovaldi . . .

Just cancel this season.
Can't imagine that this shortened season will continue . . .

The health of the Marlins and Phil's seem to be the story line tonight.  I checked Fenway, the Mets have started a drubbing of what used to be a proud Sox organization.  Sad, but surprising to no one.

Everyone knows that the sox need pitching.  It is also becoming obvious that the team is missing a strong personality.  Both Bogaerts and Martinez appear to be type B personalities.  IMO the whole team is a collection of pretty bland ballplayers.  They need some free spirits like Pedroia or Ortiz.

I just woner if it has entered Roenicke alleged mind to stsart pitching  Barnes and Workman in opening innings instead of the garbage he's been sending out there.  Osik and now Springs?  What kind of trash is that for a pitching staff?  At least Workman and Barnes have had some success; the others mentioned along with Weber and some of the putrids we sent out yesterday.  This is disgraceful and Prune Face had better be ready to face the music to saddling us with group of losers.   Then, again, there is Roenicke with Benintendi at leadoff where he does not belong and Raffy is not a three hole hi tter.  There simply is no excuse for this kind of play from the Red Sox.  At this rate we'll be lucky to win ten games this season.

Bogaerts has never been a leader type, and though he has good talent he is not a take charge guy or a player who can be the straw that strirs the drink.  We have no one like that on this team, and coupled with shitty pitching and a manager who managed to make himself a joke in only less than four games the best we can hope for is for the rest of the season to be cancelled.  And tomorrow another dumpster named Hall is pitching for us.  I mean how much more sickending can it get?

AND the Sox lose to the Mets 7 - 4

Sad.
Can only hope that this shortened season is cancelled
and we don't have to watch this team.

Oddly enough, they've scored 23 runs and given up 23 runs through the first 4 games. Yet they're 1-3.

True - and they scored 13 of those 23 runs in the first game.

Therein lies the problem. One good game and then pfffft.

Remy and Eck both commented on this team having no energy.  Virus or not this is exactly the same start as last year.  This is a flat team.  The team lacks personality.  They need a catalyst some one who has a spark.

Where we are now. Many think when the Sox couldn't extend the deal with Mookie, Henry told DD then Bloom to deep six the team for 2021- 2022.  The picking up of an array of bottom of the barrel DFA'd players was the Sox throwing the fans a bone when they were headed to reset.

from Jarrod Carrabis,

We just need to hope  that the season gets past August 31 so that the luxury tax resets and Chaim Bloom can fix this mess. The Red Sox punted on 2020 the second that the Mookie trade went through.

Verdugo may be that guy, if he gets a chance to play every day.

Roenicke again screws up by starting a lefty opener and then replacing him with a lefty, not a righty.  Plus Godley is as good as anyone right now, he should have started.

But what really steams me is this pitching situation.  All last year I talked about how they had no starting pitching and that's when they had 4 starters and then whatever.  Now it's one starter and whatever.  Plus, let's face it but the year before, even though they won, they had to go on a short staff to face the good teams in the postseason.  This year they didn't even try to field a full roster and that's pathetic.  There should be some sort of fine for Henry for not even trying to put a competitive team out there.
