Ray the '21 Cy Young winner, should know the Sox well.  4-3 this year.

Ray often gave us fits last season.  We need good pitching and sound defense tonight........no four outs for the Mariners and no defensive lapses.  Be nice to turn on Robbie tonight and give him a taste of the medicine he gave us last year.  We need to keep winning to make up for those miserable four weeks when we seemed to disappear, and last night was a good example of making  the fans happy at the way we took it to them.  Of course the pitching was average and we hope to get more effective there as the season progresses---and, yes, I mean the bullpen.

Verdugo needs to call Xman off that ball.

A lot to like about the game tonight with one squall to possibly spoil things somewhat.  It looked like Bogie might have been seriously hurt when he crashed into Verdugo who failed to call him off the ball.  Hopefully he won't be out for very long-----hopefully.  On the field the team got a granny from the hot Trevor Story in the third and a booming and surprising tater from Jackie Bradley, a three run job to put the game on ice for us.  The relief pitching was very good, we hit in the clutch in key situations and played well.  I hope this is the trend the team is going to take.  Strahm, Diekman, Schreiber and Davis pitched well out of the pen which might mean we might not have to endure Barnes and Robles and Sawamura much more as the season progresses.  The Red Sox now need to keep this up and get back in the playoff chase and that can only happen by putting together some nice winning streaks.
