When you're down to 2 1/2 starters you get a lot of bullpen games.

Why is Salty working the game tonight? I understand it wasn't planned, but cannot find out why. Hoping it's not another scare.

They mentioned Jerry had an upset stomach and emphasized that it was all he had.  Salty lives in Florida so was fairly close by.

Cora once again testing his luck last night by allowint the pathetic Chacin to start the fourth inning and the result was another Cora personnel blunder and what resulted in another loss.  Astounding just how fast and far the manager has fallen this season---one mistake after another.  But he won a WS last season so he will get another chance in 2020 to rectify his disastrous second helping.

So who does he go to in that situation?  Cashner?  Walden?  Taylor?  He needs to ride anyone of these guys as long as he can.  Chacin was blowing through them in the first 3 innings.  Poyner out of the pen was the one who poured gasoline on the fire.  I'm happy for all of our sakes this season is over shortly!

He could pitch Barnes and Workman two innings as this stage of the season  to see if they can be effective doing that and maybe give Cora a chance to get a line for next season.  Besides, by now he h as to know which relievers can be counted on and which ones he cannot---like Schwaryn, Webber, Kelley, and Lakins, just to name four who have no damn business being on the team and show no potential to be contributing  members now or in the future.  If they pitch at all the rest of the season it should be mop up if we get behind or in there if we have at least a seen or eight run lead.

Barnes looked "great" last night.  Workman is their closer, so you wouldn't bring him in early.  Combined they're not getting you 9 innings that they need most nights and at least 4 on the otehrs, and that's when it's not extra innings.  The rest of the guys he has to keep throwing out there because a) he has nobody else and b) some of them may figure something out.

Barnes is a problem of sorts, good stuff but half the time he can't control it and put the ball where he wants but he has gotten a little better or late---I said a little better.  However Ted, he does NOT have to use bums like Lakens, Weber, Schawaryn and duds like that at all.  He does have about 12 total relievers since rosters were expanded earlier in the month.  What I think he should be doing is giving his "better"relievers some extra work under trying conditions to see if they can whether some of the storms we keep facing just about every series.  It might give Cora a window to see just who might be able to handle some of these chores in 2020 because it is sure sign that L, W, and S can't---and you can throw in that guy Kelley too with these other duds.

But that's the point Fred, he does have to use those guys.  He has to get somewhere north of 30 innings every 5 games out of his pen and that's if they don't get to extras.  Plus, I'd much rather have him running all these guys out there now so they can evaluate them now, not in Spring Training.
