RED SOX V ORIOLES

SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2017, 1:35 PM AT ORIOLE PARK AT CAMDEN YARDS

TV:  NESN, MLBN, MSN,

BOSTON, 10-8....................................................................................BALTIMORE, 12-4

BOSTON:

Eduardo Rodriguez, LHP, 0-1, 4.26 ERA, 15K

This will be the first start for Rodriguez since April 13, when he gave
up three runs (two earned) on four hits in 5 1/3 innings vs the Pirates
in his no-decision.  He threw a shutout inning of relief against the
Bjue Jays on Wednesday.

BALTIMORE:

Kevin Gaugman, RHP, 1-1, 7.23 ERA, 13K

The righty is coming off his worst start of the season and one the worst of his
career on Tuesday in Cincinnati.  Gausman, the Orioles' Opening Day starter, will
look to bounce back after just one quality start his first four games.

Struggling Gausman tries to sweep Red Sox

Jeff Seidel

Orioles starter Kevin Gausman will be looking to get back on track in the finale of a three-game weekend series with the Red Sox on Sunday, while Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez hopes to beat the team that traded him away.

Gausman (1-1, 7.23 ERA) has gotten off to a slow start this season, and he lasted just 2 2/3 innings in his most recent outing, giving up eight
A former Orioles prospect, Rodriguez (0-1, 5.23) came to the Red Sox in the Andrew Miller trade three years ago, and he's allowed seven runs in 10 1/3 innings in his two starts. The lefty also threw a scoreless inning in one relief appearance.

The Red Sox also are hoping to get Dustin Pedroia back in the starting lineup. He hurt his left knee/ankle late in Friday's game when Manny Machado slid into him at second base. Manager John Farrell called it a day-to-day situation.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GAME

• Red Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi will be back in the starting lineup Sunday, according to Farrell. The outfielder had played every inning of every game through Friday, and Farrell gave him a break Saturday.

• Left fielder Craig Gentry could get another start for the Orioles with a left-hander going for Boston. Gentry is starting to bounce back from a slow start at the plate, and he's showing the speed and defense the Orioles wanted when they acquired him.

• Shortstop Xander Bogaerts made it back to the lineup for Boston on Saturday despite battling a sore thumb. He missed the series opener Friday, and with Pedroia out, the Sox need him in there.

Not good news at all.
Dustin Pedroia will get MRI on his left knee and ankle on Monday in Boston.
Swelling and soreness in Pedroia's knee and ankle has not not gone down and Hanley is still feeling soreness in his right shoulder.

longgame

I guess Hanley's shoulder feels better.  Also nice to see Betts launch one.  They need to keep it up though as 4 runs won't get it done against this team.

Bill-806

Why, because the bats were aggressive in the 1st inning......  AKA, not being to cute on the counts....  If its there, hit it !!!

Rob from Mass

OMG 2 homers by the 5th inning .MLB will probably order the infamous PEE PEE test at GAMES end.

And yet another dinger. BENI.    HANLEY.   MORELAND all go deep.

Someone hit the power switch.   Finally.  E-Rod having a darn good game so far.

While Beni does have 3 hits today it's Betts, Hanley and Moreland who have hit home run's so far.

Good overall job by E-rod today. He seemed more aggressive today. Got tired I think in his last inning but got through it.
