Title: Montgomery

The Sox never had "interest", he just finally signed with the D-Backs.  You would have thought this was a no-brainer for the Sox even before Giolito went down.  One year, $25MM.

And Ted, get this.  We open on the West Coast, never one of our better venues, and we open against the Mariners who MLB hosts are claiming may have the best rotation in the game.  We have Cutter Crawford with his straight as an arrow stuff to start and Winchowski among others for the bullpen.  I mentioned those two because the offer, at least to me, the absolute smallest chance of success this season at their respective posts.  Oh, I will watch Thursday evening at least for awhile.  Well, what can you expect?  The last five seasons for the most part have made a glutten for punishment.

Of course we all knew we would never sign Jordan Montgomery.  At least that prediction turned out right for all of us.

I really think Montgomery had no desire to pitch inBoston, Yankees or Mets.  He's a South Carolina boy from the start.  He did get developed and played for the yankees, but I think he prefers the slower pace of Dallas and Phoenix if given the choice.  But likely most of all, Monty did say he wanted to sign with a contender.  That might have eliminated Boston, Mets, Angels and Cubs.

Agree with you both, he was never going to sign with them, but they really need another arm.  Oh well.
