E-Rod owes himself, his teammates and the fans a game w here he doesn't look like crap warmed over. His problems seem to bisect those of the team and we need him to step up big time tonight. We have to start winning more than two or three games in a row. We've barfed away too much of the season to be satisfied with that. WE NEED A LONG WINNING STREAK FOR THE NEXT MONTH OR SO, SAY SOMETHING LIKE A 24-6 RUN. Yes I know it will be very difficult to achieve but it is what it is. Football coaching great Bill Parsells put it so well when he made his famous pearl a couple of decades ago. YOUR RECORD TELLS YOU WHAT KIND OF A TEAM YOU HAVE---something like that. Well can anyone argue that point right now?
Definitely think E-Rod needs to show up against his former organization and the Sox should put on a slugfest.
Sox are 6.5 out. I'm hopeful they can reduce that gap to at least 3 by the end of the month, maybe even less by the ASB.

Right you are Ted, but the only way to get that job done is to stop this two or three game winning streaks that we have had to be followed by two or three losses. We need to win a lot more consistently than we have. If I had my druthers I would like to gain three or four games in the standings by the end of this month, but for that to happen Mookie, Benni and JD must get hot and stay even hotter and Cora must finally decide who his eighth inning and closer are. We simply must start playing better and cancel out those mental mistakes we've by the gross this season. That would be a very good first step.
NUNEZ ???? iono iono iono iono
Another wacky lineup from Manager Neuman, I suppose he figures its only Baltimore

One plus for that lineup, Nunez can't make any errors at DH.
According to the Os announcers Ortiz the Os starter has a 7 plus era and lefties and righties are hitting over .290. If the Sox hitters don't eat this guys lunch that would be telling.
E-rod with a bit of hole digging.
Holt doesn't wait around, line drive HR
Holt with a 2-run dinger to put the Sox in front.
Our DH hits into a DP to end the inning.

And he would have on that last play where Holt covered 1B well.
E-Rod failed to cover 1st and Holt saved his bacon
I think Holt got hosed on that call, but it went by too fast to be sure. Maybe they'll show a replay after the break.
Umpires have been horrible of late.
Vaz with a bomb. Way gone.
Vazquez crushed that ball. Notice that there are a heck of a lot of empty seats. I suspect most of the fans may be Sox fans.
Nunez now 0 for 20
Heads up base running by JBJ. Sox up 4-1.
Beni has to learn to go to the opposite field. The shift is killing him.
JD with a 2-run dinger. Sox up 6-1.
Holt got screwed on two pitches that were outside in that at bat. But that last call baffles me. The guy swung and missed, there’s no way he tipped it, and Vazquez caught it anyhow. First time I’ve seen that.
Devers is going to be a gold glover one day. Believe it!
JBJ joins the fun with a 2-run dinger. 8-1 now.
JBJ is on his hot streak another HR. Nunez breaks his 0 for 20 with a hit. Sox need to play in Cambden Yards more often.
Chavis with a 2-run dinger. Feast or famine with this team.
Now Chavis with a dinger.
Beni having a crappy night at the plate.
Sox don't hit this many HRs in BP
Wow another one!
When my son was little he asked once “can we play the Rays every day?†Now it would be the O’s.
Rays and the Yankees are both losing.

11 in two nights? Nice to see.
Sox need longer bats with this ump.
Beni finally gets a hit. Two more runs in.
Jackie on fire!!!
Easy win. Let's see if they have an offensive drought tomorrow. Sale pitching and a ton of runs tonight could be a bad omen for tomorrow.
Nice win. On to Saturday.
Yanks down 10-1 in the 7th. TB up 9-4.

Lefty or righty I think Brock Holt should be in that lineup come what may. Nunez brings very little to the batting order or on the defensive end and he is so undisciplined at the plate that a walk is like a total impossibility for him. Unless he hits he is useless because that's the only way he can get on base----and he should never be playing second base. Of course, I have never cared for Little Marco either. Another Nunez at the plate and I wonder why we haven't g otten rid of that guy yet. STILL, tonight we really whaled the hell out of the ball and now I think you know why we need JD Martinez in the lineup going bonkers with the bat. He hits and the team has a chance to win. Great game tonight but, sorry, there are two red flags to this. One, we've had these games before and what usually happens is that we come out the next day flat as a board and mostly lose that contest. Secondly, Chris Sale, screwed out of a win the team needed very badly on Monday because of a lack of hitting support and another crappy relief performance by the Meatball, has been cheated out of a lot of hitting support. COME OUT READY TO WHALE TOMORROW AT THE PLATE AND GIVE SALE SOME SOLID HITTING SUPPORT AND MAYBE WE MIGHT ACTUALLY BE ON OUR WAY. Saturday will tell me whether this team has turned a corner or not. We should this time around.

That's what I just wrote in another post. We win big and come back flat as a board the next day. Sale pitches and gets miserable hitting support and what that usually spells in a loss and a another fallback by the team. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN ANYMORE. We had a very good night in Baltimore and we must come out tomorrow snarling and ready to roll, and Sale deserves the support he needs to win without risking the meatball or some other crappy reliever coming in to blow the game for us. THIS TIME WE MUST NOT BE FLAT AND THIS TIME WE MUST SUPPORT CHRIS SALE HANDSOMELY. This time we must use this game as a springboard to success for the rest of the month, and for pete's sake Alfred E., do not rest Benintendi. He needs to get zeroed in to help more in the offensive department and someone should kick Betts in the rear to wake him up at the plate. He has played somewhat comatose of late.
TB won, Yanks got crushed. Sox now 6 games back.
Sox activate Brian Johnson Friday and will pitch Sunday in Baltimore. They said he will now be their #5 starter.

That should be an improvement over the various guys they've thrown out there.
Nice win. The Sox of course need to beat up on these teams as the Yankees and Rays have done.
