Not sure what to expect ?? 2 wins, no injuries, get the heck home without any incidents ??? RED SOX have more to lose than the YANKS ….. iono iono iono iono
Sadly it appears Porcello, like many Sox pitchers, has a sudden loss of command. Then Chavis misses what should have been an out in this ballpark.
Simply can't stake the Yankees to a lead... Oh well.
This is worse than I imagined and its only the first inning. I hope they enjoyed the luxury flight.
Pocello pitching batting practice.
And just when you think it can't get any worse.
1/3 of an inning and 6 runs. Get Porcello a coach standby ticket and send him to the airport.
So disappointing.
Boston looks like they spent too much time seeing the sights.
Shame the Brits don't get to see two pro-level teams playing. This is a joke. The Globe said earlier that Porcello was going to turn the season around starting today. Not so much.
The best thing is they get crushed both games and get the wheels going in motion going forward. Let's not kid ourselves into thinking they will get anything more than a 1 game and get ready for 2020. Offer Mookie an extension and when he refuses to see what they can get. No way they should be buyers when the deadline comes unless its petty players. Do not go over the LT and lose another draft pick.
The yanks are looking like the 2018 Sox.
At least they are showing signs of life at the plate.
Agreed on all counts Murph. I've been trying to be positive but this first inning laid things out bare. Even if they come back in this game, let's stop the charade and either invest or break them up.
Bases loaded and no outs. Will they do something with it?
Vaz gets a sac fly, at least.
Maybe tomorrow will be a pitchers' duel!
Holt with an RBI single. Now 6-3.
The game!!!
Are you kidding me? A new ballgame!
Chavis with a 3-run dinger. Tied at 6. And it's still the 1st inning.
Thanks to the bandbox its tied.
Jackie continues his June raking . Coming into today hitting .270 in June.

Have to agree with Smotlz, never have I seen a first inning like that. I wonder if that has ever happened before in MLB.
Last happened in 89.
Wright gets into a jam and then gets out of it. Still 6-6.
Gardner's a damn pest. 2-run dinger.
Not the best baseball being played but it must be entertaining to be there. Glad they got Green out as he's their long guy. Of course Wright didn't last long and we've got the immortal Shawaryn in the game.
What is this the CC Sabathia show or a baseball broadcast. Fox and EsPN are incompetent baseball broadcasts with these endless crappy interviews instead of doing the game.

Agreed. Way too long.
Now they're walking in runs. Pathetic pitching.
Red Sox manager is a jackass. Why in the world did he bring in Shawaryn.
Enough of this BS. Time to go mow the lawn.
Like I said Red Sox manager is a jackass. Shawaryn has no business on a mound in the major leagues
Nice defensive positioning against a right hander and nobody is near the ball down the line.
Time to go run some errands instead of watching this clown show. 14 runs in 4 freaking innings?
Pour it on Yanks. Keep it coming and maybe the FO will start the team up changes early. Mainly mister Betts when he refuses any extension.
Don't tell me that the Red Sox manager is competent. The bull pen may be bad but Manager What Me Worry makes a bad situation worse. Wright never should have been replaced with this guy.

Probably looking at 20 plus.
WAKEUP CALL COMING FOR THE FO.

You'd think that at minimum John Henry would be embarrassed at this point. He wants to be a big deal in the UK as a sports team owner and his team is failing in an international exhibition. On top of that, professionally they gave up two home games to do this and didn't show up.
I agree, I hope total humiliation sets in and they do something about it.
Setting up Gardner for a grannie in the 9 hole.
Maybe the Sox could start a brawl today. On the other hand, this baseball thing has been a collosal failure.
Smoltz just basically tied the current bullpen woes back to Manager Neuman idiotic decision to hold back the starters in the beginning of the year. He believes that bullpen situation have been exacerbated by them being overworked because the starters inability to go long in games.
Eckersley, Jim Palmer and now Smoltz three HOF pitchers have publicly tied the current lousy pitching performance back to that idiotic decision by the Manager in ST.
Yeah, JH should be totally embarrassed by now. Maybe it'll happen again tomorrow.
Sox score 10 runs and are losing by 7. If our idiotic manager had not surrendered earlier by putting Shawaryn and taking out Wright this would be a ball game. Like I said before 30 seconds after the Red Sox are mathematically eliminated from the wild card, I'd fire him.

Red Sox manager is a jackass. Why in the world did he bring in Shawaryn.
ecause many in the Red Sox scouting and developmental department have insisted this Shawaryn guy could be a real sleeper and potential keeper for us. BULLSHIT. Every time he has pitched for us he has looked shittier and shittier. Another bum pitching prospect who is no prospect and hardly even a suspect. As for Porcello, he was saying he was ho nored to get the call in today's game. Honored how? By being a human pinata on the mound??? I do agee what was said by someone earlier----After this series make a definitive move to sign Betts to a lon g term contract and if he refuses g et his ass out of town at the first opportunity. There will be suitors who want the guy and we can recoup two decent young players for him. If he refuses DO NOT KEEP HIM AND TRY TO SIGN HIM THIS OFF SEASON. sHIP HIS ASS OUT OF TOWN. Make certain also that Porcello pitches somewhere else next season and use the mo ney from him to try and sign a good pitcher..
Sox lose. While it may seem hard to point fingers at any one individual in a 17 to 13 slugfest but the Manager as much as anyone is largely responsible for this result. He has mismanaged the pitching staff both starters and relievers since February with the start of spring training.
We should hope the FO is bright enough to see the future is not bright as made up now .Farm sucks and that's reason enough to not go over the LT. The Yanks can do us a favor and trounce us tomorrow and get the remake in motion.Criticize if you want but IMO that is what is needed.

As far as ST is concerned it was not much different than last. ST.5 or 6 more innings I don't think with make matters better. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Murph, the whole mindset was different in the ST season of 2018. Cora was new on the job and he wanted to make a great impression from the get-go. It was why he WAS hired after Farrell was canned AFTER winning two AL East Titles in a row. Alex knew he had to do better than that ---and he did it in spades. His leadership last season was superb, his handling of the pitching staff and lineup was p rofessional in every sense of the word and he out managed Boone, Roberts and the guy from Houston in the Playofds. From the beginning of Spring Training this year he had this satisfied laid back attitude with an Alfred E. Newman "what, me worry" attitude. The team was ready to play when the season began in 2018. Is there anyone who would or could say with a straight face that we were ready to play when the season began this year?????? I sincerely doubt it. Much of this emerging debacle is on him. DD??? He should have gotten a closer...PERIOD!!!!!!

As I noted in March the starters weren't ready for the season. Espn noted at the time that Sale had only pitched 9 innings in ST before his first start. He hadn't started a ST game until about two weeks before the start of the regular season. I have been to 5 ST and last year was the most casual of any. One baseball analyst after another from Smoltz, Eck, Jim Palmer, Jim Bowden to even A-Rod all noted that Sox pitchers simply hadn't worked enough to be ready for the regular season. This put undue pressure on the pen which Smoltz noted during today's game.
The current state of the pen was entirely predictable and foreseeable as a net result of the stupidity of the past year's ST regime regarding not getting the starters properly stretched out for the regular season.
Seems like I am wrong on that .
IMO it is risky to trade for solely a bull pen piece right now. With the holes in the infield, the catcher (pitchers insist on Leon drama) would only be chasing a wild card. But at the end of the day you trade for a BP and/or starter for the benefit of the fans, just to show you're trying to compete.
With only about 7.5 m to work with whatever they get will be about the same as what is there now . Chasing a possible 1 and done scenario at this point doesn't make much sense.
For these reasons, I think DD may largely do nothing but minor tinkering .

If they can spend all that money on ferrying this group back and forth to London, they can certainly go out and field a full team. This is ridiculous.
