Sweep!! The A's may be hapless but a sweep is a sweep.  Did not see this coming a week ago.  Great start.

I was watching the Orioles for a while and they were talking a lot about how he was instrumental in getting Camden Yards built as well as Petco in San Diego. He was also instrumental in making Fenway the home of the Sox for the foreseeable future when people were talking about a new ballpark in Southie or something.  Jim Palmer said he began as a lawyer who liked baseball more than the law.  He may have tried to steal the limelight, but he didn't shy away from the press in Boston and he was a big part of building the 21st century Sox.

I like the relative stability of the lineup but I'm hoping Abreu finds some way to contribute soon.  I also like that Cora has firmly established Rafaela as the starting CF.

Quote from: SeaBeachFred on April 03, 2024, 12:07:42 PMLast night when a starter had an off night, the bullpen finally stepped in and did a bang-up job helping us to win an extra inning game in Oakland.  4-2 so far is pretty good from where I sit but we have to see where we are in about two or three weeks.  Still, I am pleasantly surprised so far.

I'm keeping my low expectations so it's all upside for now!

Would be nice to go out with a sweep in Oakland and a 5-2 mark on this West Coast sojourn  where we usually end up in a ditch.

I was never a big fan of Larry Lucchino.  He always seemed to be trying to steal the limelight from others and meddled where he should not have in baseball operations.  Still I am saddened by his passing, more than I thought I'd be.  He did help immensely to get our team to the top and deserves accolades for that.  For a man battling cancer for  years, hearing he died of heart failure was kind of a shock.  RIP Larry.

Seadog, I've been on the same spot that you are. 74-88. It could be worse if any more depth is needed.

One crazy thing I heard early in the Seattle series was that Yoshida was mainly a DH in Japan. If that is true, then the signing was as foolish as it turned out to be. Baffles the mind.

Staying up for these West coast games has been an embarrassment. Getting older ZZzzzzzzzzz. I hope I'm not missing the best of season.
