There was a stat on Quick Pitch this AM that Schwarber leads all of MLB this year in home runs as the leadoff batter. (8)  For Wash. and Boston.

Serious pitcher's duel here. Sox with just one hit. Or maybe two now.

Why did Cora pull Houck?  Makes no sense given the overall situation.

No frigging clue. Maddening. It's like someone praying for a lottery win and not buying a ticket. UFB!!!  Can't develop a 6 inning guy without giving him a chance at it more than once or twice. hell, we're lucky he got into the 5th with cora.

Houck had 68 pitches and was doing fine. WTF? Now they're on the verge of giving up a run or two. And with the Sox bats as quiet as they've been, it's not looking good.

markj

O's somehow beat the Yanks and the A's are losing in the 8th, so the Sox can gain on both here. But at least they won't lose ground if this game goes south.

Pulling Houck was a typical brain dead stupid move.  Management by slavish following programmed sabermetrics  without taking into account the total situation. Davis has to be pulled from the game after loading the bases.
