We tried to give it away in the ninth inning but held on.  Even our wins are nail biting affairs, and once again the bulpen left a lot to be desired.  This time it was Walden who actually has a decent ERA (3.57) but never can be counted on when the going gets rough.  Owings?  Do the Red Sox actually believe this guy can play Major League baseball?  Well we now have to take the wins where we can get them.  Boy has this team hit the skids this season.

We talk a lot about the value of the bullpen.  A little shadenfreude, Theo and the Cubs are coming up dumbfounded this year.  In trying to stay in the wildcard their pen has blown 13 saves this year.  Kimbrell took the loss last night with a walkoff dinger in the 9th.  I think he has 13 saves with 3 or four blown saves.

Well Kimbrel is sure not going o get that big contract that he wanted this ye ar next year either.  Still, it is to bad we couldn't have kept him and Kelly.  Certainly they are a lot better than most of the trash we've been sending out to the mound all season to try and hold leads while they became specialists in blowing saves.  How many BS have we had this season, about 25-30?
